SAT: how to deduct interest on your Infonavit credit on the Annual Return

From 1 to 30 April, individuals will be able to tax Income Tax (ISR) with the Tax Administration Service

Guardar

From 1 to 30 April, individuals may file their Annual Return with the Tax Administration System (SAT). One of the deductions they can make when taxing income tax (ISR) and which will help reduce the amount of taxes, is that of mortgage loans granted by the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit).

As stipulated by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), the real interest that can be deducted is obtained from the difference between the interest you paid during the year on your mortgage loan minus the inflation rate, which in March was 7.45%, according to the latest data published by the Institute National Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

For example, if the Infonavit mortgage loan that a taxpayer seeks to deduct is 1 million pesos, with an interest rate of 12.5%, by subtracting the percentage of the last inflation record, it would be 5.05%, which would allow the interested party to deduct interest of up to 50,500 pesos.
