“One Piece: Film Red” and Shanks' biggest secret in a new trailer

Whether on television or film, the creation of Eiichiro Oda does not end up surprising his fans. The fifteenth film in the film series of the acclaimed anime — titled One Piece : Film Red — will be screened in Japan next August and Toei Animation finally released a new trailer that has confirmed the biggest secret of the pirate Shanks: he has a daughter named Uta. This female character will meet Luffy and the Straw Hats in a new adventure involving the past of The Redhead.

A few days ago, a first poster of the film warned the presence of Uta, who is described as a famous music diva in this fantastic universe of pirates. However, no one considered the possibility that she would be the only offspring of one of the Four Emperors (known as Yonkou) of the New World. Read the official synopsis below:

“Uta — the most beloved singer in the world. His voice, with which he sings while hiding his true identity, has been described as 'from another world'. She will appear in public for the first time at a live concert, and the venue will be filled with all sorts of Uta fans: excited pirates, the Navy watching closely and the Straw Hats led by Luffy, who simply came to enjoy her sound performance. The story begins with the shocking fact that she is the 'daughter of Shanks'.”

It is known that Oda is directly involved in the production of One Piece: Film Red, so, it is expected that this detail will end up being converted into a canon within the original narrative of the series and the manga. At the moment, it is not yet known who the girl's mother is or how she and Shanks met. What you can see in the preview is a scene of the man, younger, talking to his daughter when she was still little and he still had his straw hat.

The red-haired pirate abandoned her? As we can see, she would have been removed from her father's life for a long time and have not maintained a communication, which is why she will become the antagonist of this plot. It is clear that Luffy will try to solve this family drama and will be accompanied by the faithful colleagues of his crew.

When is One Piece: Film Red released?

One Piece: Film Red will be released in Japanese cinemas on August 6 of this year and does not yet have an official release date in Latin American countries. The animated film is directed by Goro Taniguchi (the mind behind Code Geass), written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa and produced by Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the original manga. Mayumi Tanaka, Kazuya Nakai, Akemi Okamura, Kappei Yamaguchi, Hiroaki Hirata, Ikue Otani, Yuriko Yamaguchi, Kazuki Yao, Chō, Katsuhisa Hōki and Shūichi Ikeda will resume their roles in the original voice cast.
