The second edition of World Woman Hour 2022, organized by the World Woman Foundation, honored 60 women working for a healthier and more equitable world for women globally, in fields such as science, health, business, arts and media, among others.
Nadia Sánchez is one of the Colombians who is part of the list, her name was recognized in the traditional bell ring on NASDAQ, for the great work she has done by She Is Foundation, an international organization that through a disruptive model of women's empowerment and leadership has generated an impact sustainability and social value in economic, cultural, peace, health and other fields.
Today, the challenges women face in access to education, health care, energy, pay equity and their impact on gender equity around the world are abysmal. In addition, one in four girls or adolescents, between the ages of 15 and 19, acknowledges that at least once in their life they have been the victim of physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner.
Nadia was recognized for her intense work from the Foundation, with which she has created what she calls “a sustainable model of empowerment for women and girls”.
In addition to providing basic humanitarian aid, the Colombian company carries out disruptive education and support programs ranging from business and social entrepreneurship to pacification and technological innovation for girls. For example, with a historic program in conjunction with NASA's Space Center, they have provided opportunities to girls in Colombia and Latin America, not only to reach NASA, but also to open up fields of access to education and break circles of poverty, benefiting girls in vulnerable situations.
Likewise, the She Is Foundation developed, together with its great allies, projects and initiatives that have positioned the gender equity agenda in various scenarios. One such project was the global compact for the empowerment of women, which was signed between members of the various sectors of society.
In total, the work she leads with her organization has touched more than 15,000 women and girls so far, being recognized in more than 10 countries for her hard work.
During the event, 59 other women were honored, including names such as Angela H.E.M. Maas, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Angie Redondo Herrera, Flor de Leyna, Zanelle Dalglish, Ashlan Cousteau, Traci Otey Blunt, Amy Dubois Barnett, Nyaradzo Auxilia Hoto, Tchernavia Bagheri-Rockrock Among others.
