On March 20, in Cartagena, the India Catalina Awards were held and journalist Juan Diego Alvira, renowned news anchor at Noticias Caracol, received recognition in the category of best presenter. In the middle of the event, in which the communicator was present, Alvira experienced an uncomfortable moment that he revealed in the last few hours to some colleagues from his working house.
In the middle of the moment, Juan Diego Alvira wanted to give his thank-you speech with his little daughter María del Mar, but he was unable to do so and regretted it when he received the statuette. “Thanks to my beautiful daughter, who is sitting there and I wanted her to be here to tell Caracol's viewers that thank you very much,” said the communicator. This situation was not seen in the transmission of the award by Señal Colombia, because this award was awarded before the start of the broadcast.
However, the journalist was a guest on Caracol Televisión's morning show 'Día a Día', and revealed the details behind his words to receive the prize in Cartagena. In dialogue with the presenters Carolina Soto and Cruz, who are mothers, Alvira highlighted that moments before the award ceremony her daughter had thrown a 'tantrum' that remained an anecdote of that important day.
The presenter pointed out that while in Cartagena, despite enjoying the trip with his wife Ana María Escobar and their daughter Maria del Mar, the little girl was apparently indisposed because of the heat in that city. “You are moms, you understand what that is like,” Alvira told the presenters, who answered in the affirmative.
After getting ready to go to where the award ceremony would take place, the family boarded a car, in which the youngest began to despair. “We got in the car and that girl starts and nobody was silent. Poor driver, he was desperate and I think he wanted to get us off”, recalled the journalist.
María del Mar turns five in October and, although the plan was for her to accompany her father throughout the award ceremony, especially in his speech when he received his recognition, the tantrum that day meant a change of plans for the couple. Juan Diego Alvira pointed out in the morning that seeing the behavior and discomfort of the girl, he had to arrive alone at the place of the event, while his wife took the minor to another place to calm her down.
“I got off alone and was there walking down the red carpet and all the way to the awards,” said the journalist; however, when he started entering the room he saw his wife and daughter who, although she was still indisposed, was calmer.
The journalist said that he entered the place with them and at the time when they were settling down at the table, taking care that the minor was calm; “we heard that they announce the best presenter and they say my name,” he recalled. The moment surprised the family, who planned for the youngest to go with Alvira to receive the award; however, the state of María del Mar caused the journalist to go on stage alone.
Despite this, the communicator said that he enjoyed the evening and that, after receiving the award, his daughter was calmer and was able to celebrate recognition with her.
