After the apparent suggestion that Ana Bárbara had not composed the lyrics of the song Fruta Prohibida, that she should react in a very peculiar way and even Julián Figeroa had an opinion on the controversy, it is now José Manuel Figueroa - who claimed the copyright - who finally broke the silence about it and announced that a legal battle had already begun to have his name appear in the official credits of the topic.
The singer and songwriter from the Mexican regional ended with the silence that for weeks had been speculated on social networks about what was really going on with Reina Grupera and the dispute over who was lying about the creation of the lyrics of the popular song that has become one of the most important classics for her - and popular on streaming platforms such as Spotify -. In a very peaceful way and trying not to generate more controversy, Joan Sebastian's son assured that the subject is his own.
“I have never said no (be it Ana's), it will always be hers: I wrote it for her and I did it to her with a lot of love and very much in love at the time. The only thing I want to recover is the recognition of the work, I asked her two or three years ago and talked to her so that she could share the credit with me,” the singer began to tell the cameras of TV Azteca's morning morning, Venga La Alegría.
The performer of other hits such as Soy Como Quiero Ser, Regalo A Mi Bespoke and Que Sea added that the last thing he wanted with the dispute is money or past as well as future royalties, because it is a gift he gave to Ana Bárbara, but it is necessary for him to do “justice” and be recognized as the creator of the work he has now given a lot to talk about in the world of the Mexican regional.
“I am not asking you for past or future royalties, nor present, all I want is for recognition of the work. Right now, this is a situation that unfortunately happens between composers and will continue to happen,” he added, before mentioning that the National Institute of Copyright will already take research actions: “INDAUTOR is going to take action on the matter and because I am going to present my evidence, it will take its own”, he added.
Ana Bárbara a few days ago the singer replied to the cameras of Venga La Alegría that she did not know the video, but that was her intention or with those words she had attributed the authorship of a song she wrote, as well as many other hits that belong to her musical collection or even to other artists, in the end he regretted that he could not recognize that this was a macho attitude, since women are also capable of creating, composing, even being executive producers of their artistic projects, so now he responds.
“I love her because my admiration and my respect, as a composer, as a mother, as a woman, as a singer... it has nothing to do with authorship with women's rights, but I respect her comment, she does think that about me because that's fine, it's her right,” she concluded.
For her part, Ana Bárbara has no hesitation in stating that all her musical works are protected under the law, since whenever she creates a new song she uses the legal procedures that correspond to all writers in order to avoid authors' wars in the future as is being the case, which somehow caught her by surprise since she had a good relationship with Joan Sebastian's son.
