Rodolfo Carrión, better known as' Felpudini ', won the love of Peruvians in his more than 40 years of artistic career thanks to his sense of humor, the same one we have seen in programs such as Laughter and Salsas, El Especial del Humor and in JB's Wasap, the last television space that participated before the arrival of COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the comedic actor did not appear on the small screen anymore as he was not taken into account by Jorge Benavides, who premiered a new show, called JB on ATV, in February 2021, when some activities were normalized thanks to the arrival of the vaccine against the disease.
The reason for his absence was revealed on the YouTube program “For my mother”, hosted by Dafonseka and El Tobi. Carrión, 71, explained that he was not called because of his advanced age, since he is part of the vulnerable group and at high risk of getting coronavirus.
“Yes, the pandemic... The old people have been punished, they don't want to take responsibility for older people who may get infected (from COVID-19),” replied the experienced humorist. After that, Dafoneseka asked if she could sign a document to demarcate her employer from that responsibility, he replied: “No, my signature is not worth anything...”.
However, he claimed to have nothing against Jorge Benavides, whom he described as an “extraordinary imitator”.
I WOULD WORK WITH BENAVIDES AGAIN
When youtubers asked him who he would work with on the small screen again, 'Felpudini' answered among his favorites were Adolfo Chuiman, the late Analí Cabrera, Aurora Aranda and also Jorge Benavides because of the great chemistry they had when they worked together.
“No more glance and boom, that's called stage communication,” said the comic actor. After that, he praised Benavides' work, stating that he was the first comedian to bring comedy to a professional level in the country.
“He was the first to wear the masks, the prosthetics. When I was just starting out, he was already working with an Argentine makeup artist and he taught him how prosthetics were made, molds. So, Jorge Benavides imposed and created all that. He does everything, the mold of his face, carves it... It's a chambon”, he said.
WHAT DOES 'FELPUDINI' DO?
Fortunately, Rodolfo Carrión's career has not been stagnant despite not being part of a comedy program. Thanks to his career in acting and comedy, he is currently working as a teacher in Efraín Aguilar's acting workshops, where he shares everything he has learned in his long artistic career with new talents.
“I am in the theater academy of Efraín Aguilar, as a teacher. Winter classes start on May 30th. We have a very compact group of students (...) For theater to exist in the country, we need an audience, an actor and an author. With that triangle we need to build,” he said.
THE FACT: 'Felpudini' created the phrase “I can't believe it” in a work by Efraín Aguilar, where Rodolfo had no libretto, but it was his turn to enter and he had to manage not to stay blank in front of the audience.
