From this April until December 2022 Amazon committed itself to reforestation, because with the million dollars donated, one million trees will be planted, which together with those of customers, is expected to make a positive global impact. The initial reforestation project includes the following locations:

- Open Pit Mine Restoration in Appalachia: This project will help support the reforestation of approximately 34 acres of open-pit mined land in Center County, Pennsylvania, which cannot naturally regenerate on its own.

- Restoration in wildfire-damaged areas in California: This is the Forest Health Project, a restoration program implemented on privately owned land with the National Forest in Mendocino that was severely affected by the 2018 wildfires in Colusa County in Northern California.

According to the company with the funds, foresters will be able to spend more time promoting vegetation planning and resource management, helping to reduce the risk of fires and floods in the region.

- Fighting hunger in India with fruit trees: This project involves planting fruit trees on the land of small farmers in marginalized communities located in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, and West Bengal in India. “These fruit trees will help farmers create sustainable living methods and provide nutritious food to their families and communities.”

- Protecting Orcas in the Pacific Northwest: Trees will be planted alongside rivers and streams in the Pacific Northwest to help restore critical habitat for salmon, the primary food source of endangered whales (killer whales).

It should be noted that for every dollar a tree will be planted, however Amazon points out that, in order to avoid fraudulent charges, it is necessary to donate a minimum of $2 US dollars. In addition, Amazon has packages from five, 10 and up to 20 trees, available on the website, so that users can choose the option that best suits them.

From 2014 to date, the One Tree Planted Foundation has planted more than 40 million trees in more than 43 countries. Its vision is to enable anyone to help plant trees in a collective effort to restore forests, foster biodiversity, and make a positive social impact around the world.
