A resounding blow to organized crime in Bogotá: 'Los Albóndiga' falls

The joint work between different authorities in Bogotá led to the capture of several criminals belonging to different criminal structures, who were stalking through theft and sale of hallucinogens, in different sectors of the capital and the municipality of Soacha, in this case, the Attorney General's Office, through support collaborative of the National Police, dismantled four criminal gangs operating in various parts of the city.

Regarding these operations, the judiciary pointed out: “The Attorney General's Office, through the Bogotá Sectional Directorate, and in a joint and sustained investigative work with the National Police hit for three weeks the criminal networks involved in two of the crimes that most affect citizen security: theft in all its forms and local drug trafficking.” .

So far in 2022, severe blows have been accentuated against criminal groups operating in the city, as they have perpetuated acts that directly affect both passers-by and traders, regarding these disarticulations, the Prosecutor's Office states: “10 gangs linked to robberies of people, homes and commercial establishments; and the sale of illicit substances in retail, were affected so far this year. 48 persons were caught linked to various crimes.” .

The most powerful blow was suffered by the criminal gang 'Los Albóndiga', an outlawed group that had flogged more than 20 commercial establishments in different parts of Bogotá, because using firearms they intimidated both buyers and officials of these premises.

The presence of these events occurred mainly in five locations in the capital and in the same way in the municipality of Soacha. The success of this operation was highlighted by the Prosecutor's Office, which noted: “An important achievement was the dismantling of 'Los Albóndiga', an organization that would be responsible for more than 20 armed assaults from fire to chain stores and supermarkets in the towns of Kennedy, Bosa, Antonio Nariño, Puente Aranda and Rafael Uribe Uribe, in Bogotá; and in Soacha (Cundinamarca).” .

The arrests that this judicial work yielded, allowed the prosecution of the arrested persons to be advanced, it should be noted that among those arrested there is also a minor, whose rights were restored, in relation to these results, it was assured: “In search and search procedures two adults were captured and apprehended a minor, the alleged members of this illegal structure. The Prosecutor's Office charged the detainees with the offenses of qualified and aggravated theft, and a concert to commit a crime.” .

José Manuel Martínez Malaver, director of the Bogotá Section of the Prosecutor's Office, explained that they seek to combat crime from different fronts, since, in addition, the cooperative work with the Sijin of the Police allowed the dismantling of other gangs such as: 'Los Ganzúas', 'Los Yerbateros' and 'Los Delgados', who were mobilizing in the world of microtrafficking and theft. Likewise, it seeks to advance cooperation between Soacha and Bogotá, to defeat crime.

Faced with the evidence obtained, Malaver explained: “we are working on all the invisible borders between Bogotá and Soacha, all of them were left with a measure of assurance in the face of the forcefulness of the evidentiary material presented with the function of guarantees, they fully accept the theses of the Prosecutor's Office for the material, which together with the Sijin of the Police Metropolitan de Bogotá we carry, the strength of these tests allowed judges to impose the measure of intramural insurance on these people.”

The Secretary of Security, Coexistence and Justice, Aníbal Fernández, also highlighted the success of the operation, noting: “very important results in the judicialization of members of criminal groups operating in different parts of Bogotá. Excellent work articulated between @FiscaliaCol and @PoliciaBogota.” .
