It is traditional for the people of Bogota to take advantage of Holy Week to take a stop along the way, a well-deserved rest and leave the city, however, there are many who, for different reasons, prefer or should stay in the city.

Given this, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá enabled four trails for recreational and ecotourism activities in the area of the Protecting Forest Reserve (RFP) of the Eastern Forest of Bogotá.

The trails of La Vieja, San Francisco-Vicachá, La Aguadora and Guadalupe - Aguanoso will be open to the public at special times during Holy Week.

These four trails are located in the Eastern Hills of Bogotá and, according to the Ministry of Environment, they seek to “encourage the appropriation, protection and conservation of natural spaces is one of the initiatives of the administration of Mayor Claudia López”.

In this direction, the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca (CAR) called on citizens and tourists who wish to visit the Eastern Hills of Bogotá, to do so only on the trails authorized during the dates of Holy Week.

According to Sandra Riveros, director of the Bogotá regional, the call is to seek to minimize the impact of the protected areas of the Calera forest reserve and protect the safety and integrity of passers-by in the areas.

The use of unauthorized trails causes damage to natural resources, pollution of water sources and destruction of the ecosystem, as well as jeopardizing the safety and integrity of the people who visit them,” Riveros said.

To attend, citizens must register here. Upon arrival at the meeting point, the quota and vaccination card will be verified.
