Jorge Amado Nunes starred in one of the most memorable polemics of football classics between Universitario de Deportes and Alianza Lima. The former footballer 'merengue' attacked Argentine Juan Carlos Kopriva with a punch. This action, instead of arousing criticism in the 'creams' fans, is remembered as heroic. Find out in the following note how the Paraguayan coup happened.
Nunes and Kopriva heated up the duel with their statements. “University student is still the favorite because he has a paternity about Alianza in the last time,” said the 'Cenizo'. “Speculate on that to generate pressure, I don't think there is such a question,” replied the Argentine midfielder.
On June 21, 1994, the classic between 'creams' and 'intimates' was held. The 'U' lost because of the slightest difference and its players found all the heat on top of it. One of them was Nunes, who did not control himself and pushed a rival. The referee showed him the red cardboard a few minutes after the end of the match.
Kopriva approached him to claim him and the Guaraní connected a right hand to him, leaving him on the ground. There was a riot between footballers from both teams and the Argentine who was lying in the gramado, got up after a few seconds and went in search of his aggressor. Things did not calm down and the referee had to end the game at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium.
Days after the incident, Amado Nunes spoke to the press. “I'm not going to justify anything, what's done is done and I don't regret anything. In life you don't have to regret what you can do and I don't have to regret anything.” The flyer was sanctioned with six dates.
