On Tuesday, a district judge postponed the hearing of former governor of Nuevo León, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón El Bronco, who is being held in Apodaca 2 Prison.
Since the morning, a group of supporters demonstrated in favor of the former state president and prayed for him, while Rodríguez Calderón's wife, Adalina Davalos Martínez and her lawyer, arrived at the prison for the start of the hearing, which began with a delay of half an hour.
After a few minutes of analyzing the evidence, Judge Pedro Álvarez decided to defer the hearing until April 18, where the case in which the government of Nuevo León accuses him of his probable involvement in electoral crimes will be analyzed.
It should be recalled that on Monday, April 11, a judge linked the former governor to trial for the alleged crime of abuse of authority, resulting from an investigation into the case of the requisition of the transport system known in the state as Ecovia.
That hearing was postponed after Rodríguez Calderón felt sick to his stomach, which is why he was transferred to the Metropolitan Hospital in the city of Monterrey, in Nuevo León, for urgent care.
Once in the hospital, she had a CT scan and even X-rays due to her suffering from diverticulitis (sacs or pockets in the intestine that cause lower back pain) which has worsened in recent days.
The arrival of El Bronco to the hospital became known after photographs were disseminated in which the former governor was seen entering the hospital under his own foot escorted by state security agents. After a couple of hours, he re-entered the prison.
This new process began after the complaint and investigation of the alleged illegal requisition and assurance of the property of a private individual within the framework of the construction of the Ecovia, without having compensated him in accordance with the law.
In this sense, the violation of legal certainty and private property could be considered as a possible abuse of authority by the former governor of the state of Nuevo León.
On March 15, elements of the Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Electoral Crimes of the State of Nuevo León arrested Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, in compliance with an arrest warrant issued by a control and oral trial judge of the entity.
The former governor was arrested on the outskirts of a ranch in the municipality of General Terán and taken to Apodaca Prison 2, where he is to date, after a judge determined that he warranted pretrial detention.
According to journalist Mario Maldonado, from El Universal, one of the agents used his mobile phone to show the arrest warrant to Rodríguez Calderón, who tried to convince them to accompany him to his ranch, where he would treat them “as they deserve.”
“We have to get him on the patrol car,” the prosecutors told him, so El Bronco knew that he could no longer do anything to prevent his arrest, so he approached the group of friends and said, “I already spoiled the roast meat for them,” and he got into the patrol that was pointed out to him.
