On April 12, the Attorney General's Office announced the capture of two subjects, brothers Jaime and Dayson Andrago Tocapo, of Ecuadorian nationality, in Santander de Quilichao department of Cuaca. According to the prosecutor, foreigners would be suppliers of weapons, explosives, ammunition and other items from Peru and Ecuador for the dissidents of the extinct FARC who commit crimes in the southwest of the country.

“Abundant test material compiled by #Fiscalía highlighted two brothers, who would be the suppliers of weapons, explosives, ammunition and other items from Peru and Ecuador for FARC dissidents who commit crimes in the southwest of the country,” the institution wrote on its networks.

According to the authorities, during the procedure they were found 100 electric detonators that were apparently going to be handed over to alias Cholinga or David, head of the armed group Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz; and apparently they offered money to the uniformed men who carried out the proceedings to be released and not report the finding.

The investigation determined that the subjects obtained weapons, ammunition of different calibers and explosives; they coordinated the transfer to Colombia, and sold them directly to the structures Urias Rondón and Dagoberto Ramos.

“Photographic and film records found on these men's cell phones show that they have traveled several times to Cauca. They also made it possible to know the values on which they were selling them and the routes used to enter them clandestinely into the country,” the entity's statement reads.

For this reason, Ecuadorians will now face charges for: manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of weapons, ammunition for restricted use, for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces or aggravated explosive; and bribery for giving or offering.

A few days ago, another blow was struck to the illegal structure. The Attorney General's Office, Police and National Army captured Elkin Garrido alias 'Gordo Héctor', who is the second leader of the tenth structure of the FARC dissidents that commit crimes in the border area with Venezuela.

According to them, 'Gordo Héctor' intended to attack the police command and the bunker of the Prosecutor's Office in the department of Aracua. This criminal, who had 12 men in his charge, would have been in the narco-terrorist criminal structure for more than eight years and would be under the control of alias 'Ferley Gonzalez'.

The prisoner from whom three cell phones were seized would be responsible for kidnappings, extortion, damage to public roads, theft, threats, homicides and matters of terrorist propaganda. Elkin Garrido aka 'Gordo Hector', is at the disposal of the authorities.

The FARC dissidents have recently attacked facilities of the Public Force, one of those cases was in a CAI in the city of Bogotá that left a tragic toll of two children dead. But another more recent one happened in the Military Canton of Tibu in Norte de Santander.

On April 3, an explosive device exploded near the Military Canton of Tibú, in Norte de Santander. According to the authorities, the attack was thwarted because a group of uniformed men together with an anti-explosive dog detected a suspicious man carrying a package. However, the explosion occurred injuring the subject who would be responsible for carrying the package to the battalion.
