The Ministry of Mobility in Bogotá announced closures on several roads in the city, for example, today work begins on the eastern lane, south - north, of Carrera 68 between Calle 27 sur and Transversal 53. The restriction will be carried out by works on aqueduct networks, pipeline transfers, sewer adaptations, among others. According to the secretariat, the closure will be total, 24 hours, and the works will be completed on 23 June of this year.
The “Transit Management Plan”, proposed by the district, is that vehicles continue to travel on the 3 lanes that will be enabled by Carrera 68, buses and public transport routes must travel on the slow road and the whereabouts will maintain their location.
Another closure, which began on April 8, but will last until June 9, 2022, is that of Avenida Caracas between Streets 3 and 4, including the eastern mixed road from diagonal 2 bis to Calle 3. The works will be used to adapt aqueduct and sewerage networks, as well as works for the construction of the first line of the Bogotá Metro.
For this section, it is suggested that drivers of private vehicles, who travel north/south through Caracas, “they should take Calle 4 to the West - Race 17 to the South - Street 2 bis to the Oriente - Race 16 to the South - Street 2 to the East where they connect to their usual route”. In addition, pedestrians and cyclists will have to travel on the platform; the section will be separated by plastic cases, which will delimit the pedestrian and bike-user traffic area.
Drivers traveling south/north, from Avenida Caracas, will be able to take Calle 2 to the east, where they will take the usual route. In this section, a traffic light intersection will be implemented, occasionally at Carrera 13 and Calle 4.
In another sector of Bogotá, Avenida Suba with Calle 100, there are 4 closures and a change in different roads in the sector. These works will last approximately 8 months.
One of them is the partial closure of Calle 100 between Carrera 53 and Suba Avenue; on the east-west road. The other is located on the south/north road of Suba Avenue, on 100th Street. Also, 2 lanes will be restricted in the north-south direction of the same street.
The TransMilenio route will also be affected, since in the north-south direction of Suba Avenue, between 100th Street and 97th Street, there will be a total closure of the road. Note that the northward turn to the east of Suba Avenue and 100th Street was eliminated.
For these sections, drivers will see the reduction of lanes, which will only be 4 available. TransMilenio buses will continue to travel along the left road, while public transport buses, which go south - north, along Suba Avenue, will travel along a lane of the mixed road.
In this regard, some of the stops on Carrera 68 Avenue will be relocated; the secretariat points out that the stops 136A02, 136B02 and 136C02 will be grouped into one that will be located on the north side of 100th Street, between Carrera 53 and Suba Avenue. The whereabouts 049A02 will move 190 meters north, assures the district. In this area cyclists and pedestrians will not be affected.
These are in addition to the closure of the north/south lane, between 182nd and 172nd Streets of the North Highway, which will have a mobility restriction for 2 months.
