The Mexican Football Federation confirmed four rivals for the Mexican National Team with whom they will play friendly matches in preparation for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The opponents will be Nigeria, Uruguay, Ecuador and Paraguay, in that order. One from Africa and the rest of South America in relation to the teams with which the Tri will share the sector in the sports fair.

Mexico will share Group C of the World Cup with Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia. Due to the prevalence in the type of rivals, it can be estimated that the managers gave priority to the duel that will be held against the albiceleste squad. Of the confederations of Asia and Europe, where the other combined belong, were not considered opponents for further preparatory commitments.

“Facing a South American power like Uruguay will be very important. They had a fantastic close of qualifiers, added to the individualities they have, this makes them a rival of great hierarchy. They can have similarities like the rival that we have in the World Cup, Argentina,” Gerardo Tata Martino said at a press conference after the official announcement was made.

So far, the schedule of unofficial duels already totals five dates. The first of them against Guatemala (which was already known) on April 27 at 7:30pm at Camping World Stadium. Against Nigeria, on May 28 at 19:08pm at AT&T Stadium. Against Uruguay, on June 2 at 9:00 p.m. at the State Farm Stadium. Against Ecuador, on June 5th at 6:30pm at Soldier Field. And finally against Paraguay, on August 31 at 20:00 hours at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. All venues located in the United States.

“In the summer we will have to make a more extended call than usual, taking into account, not only tour (through the USA), but the start of Nations League. We will have the chance to see more footballers,” added the coach of the Aztec team. He also took the opportunity to make a brief analysis of how the Concacaf elimination process ended, highlighting the obtaining of the necessary units.

We had a good qualifying round in terms of points, but this summer is a good time to regain feelings and level of play. We have to regain the level we had in the early years, play well, this is better if you do it with the results. We didn't play well in recent months, but we got the results,” he said.

Those led by Martino managed to make Estadio Azteca an unbeatable venue by registering 0 losses during the tournament. The team recorded only two breakdowns, but they were during their visit to foreign territory.
