Peruvian national team: Edison Flores spoke about the repechage and the possible group of the 'bicolor' at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar

The Peruvian national team went through one of the most difficult stages after reaching the repechage after finishing fifth in the South American Qualifiers. The last victory against Paraguay gave him the opportunity to play the repechage against the representative of Asia. Precisely, Edison Flores spoke about this crucial duel and about the group he would make up if he qualifies for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

To begin with, it should be mentioned that the rival of the 'bicolor' in the repechage will be defined in a single match in Doha, Qatar, between Australia and the United Arab Emirates on June 7. In fact, the 'socceroos' are no stranger to the national team, which already faced it in the world cup in Russia 2018.

“We have already played for Australia. It's a very dynamic team, very physical. He's got really good players. A very tough match if it's our turn against them. Emirates are also dynamic. But the thing is not easy, they are very important rivals who are going to win a repechage and who have the same illusion of us that it is to be in a World Cup again. We have to prepare ourselves in the best way and be fine for everything that comes,” the flyer commented in an interview with ESPN Peru.

The Australians finished in third place in group B of the Asian Qualifiers after scoring 15 points. This event allowed them to play an extra match against the Emiratis, who were in the same square with 12 points but in group A. The fact that they finished third gave them the chance to face an additional duel to define the representative of that area of the planet.

And as the 27-year-old rightly mentioned, they know what it is like to face the oceanic team, since with Peru they were part of group C of the last edition of Russia 2018. Precisely, in that match, it ended in victory for the 'white-red' with a score of 2 to 0 with the scores of André Carrillo and Paolo Guerrero. Although on that occasion they formed a more dangerous team than in the current one, they are still a consideration selection.

POSSIBLE GROUP IN THE WORLD CUP

In addition, 'Orejas' referred to the possible group where the national team would join if it succeeds in overcoming this previous phase. “It's a complicated group if we pass the key to the repechage. It's a World Cup and you live differently. The truth is that they are very important games and, obviously, if we ever play again, we are going to play with two rivals that we already know and one that is going to be new,” he added.

France and Denmark are the countries that will be in group D in Qatar 2022. Interestingly, they are two teams that the national team already faced in the last edition, so it would be an unheard of fact if fate could cross them again. It could be an opportunity for, on this occasion, the 'white-red' to take advantage of that previous experience to gain a slight advantage.

HARDEST MOMENT

On the other hand, the DC United footballer remembered the most difficult moments he had to live with everyone's team. “The time I wasn't with my companions. I had a long time away from the national team and living it from outside as a fan obviously for a player is very difficult. But always supporting, wishing the best to the national team.
