Queues at immigration offices around the country are experiencing unimaginable chaos. The number of people seeking to process their passports is exceeding the capacities of the offices. Therefore, this Tuesday, April 12, they announced that there will be attention on Thursday and Good Friday - April 14 and 15.

However, this was communicated to the Breña headquarters.

“In order to meet the demand for electronic passports, the institution has arranged for the public to be attended to this Good Thursday and Good Friday (Easter holidays) at the Breña headquarters. The schedule will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., they said in a statement on social media.

Similarly, they noted that all persons “who approach the headquarters and have scheduled a trip within the next 48 hours” will also be attended to.

Regarding the service at Jorge Chavez International Airport, they specified that the service is being carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“Citizens who have scheduled a trip can approach within 24 hours prior to the departure of their flight,” the document concludes.

LONG QUEUES AT THE BREÑA HEADQUARTERS

This Tuesday, April 12, long queues were reported outside at the head office of the Superintendency of Migration in the district of Breña. Dozens of citizens are waiting for the issuance of passports in order to make their trips abroad.

It should be recalled that this incident was reported since yesterday, when a group of passengers protested in the vicinity of Jorge Chavez airport , in Callao, due to the rescheduling of flights and non-issuance of passports.

The situation has moved to the head office of the Superintendency of Migration, where dozens of people were annoyed by the system's failures. Thus, the working staff specified that they are carrying out the passport registration and registration service, but they are not carrying out the printing of the passport. This is precisely because of the technical failure.

In most cases, people travel on Thursday night or even tomorrow, Wednesday the 13th; but they are being told that they must arrive at the headquarters 48 hours in advance.

“My flight is on Monday, but Saturday and Sunday will not attend. That's my concern, missing the flight,” testified a lady in the queue. She added that she was told she would have to head to the airport.

The TV Peru reporter also told the case of a young man who arrived with his father on Monday night and was told that he should wait until the next day. All this, so that they will then deny him attention.

Yesterday, Monday 11, the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry, arrived at Jorge Chavez airport to corroborate the situation and indicated that they were going to solve the problem today.

“I have asked the head of migration and the lady who is in charge of airport migration to solve the problem today for all the people who are claiming the passport and flight they have missed,” he told the press.

“Otherwise, I will hold the head of migration and the airport staff responsible for this encampment,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that minutes later the head of the Mininter arrived at the headquarters of Migrations to try to avoid disturbances and monitor this event that has been hurting users who have been waiting for hours at the Breña headquarters.
