Although President Andrés Manuel López Obrador presumed a 3.5% reduction in homicides during his administration, he also acknowledged that insecurity has worsened in crimes such as femicide, where there has been a 15% increase in his mandate, but stressed that he is focused on addressing the causes of violence.

In his report for 100 days of his fourth year of administration, the president reiterated that had he not acted with the attention of social programs, there might not have been slight decreases in murders that increased year after year with record numbers.

“It may take us longer to pacify the country,” said the head of the federal executive from the National Palace, adding that extortion and robbery by public transport has also increased.
