Presidential candidate Gustavo Petro expressed his concern about the support and donations that enter political parties during political campaigns, stating that they are looking for ways to filter drug trafficking money into their finances. In response to the complaint of the Senator of the Republic, the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (INPEC) asked him for evidence to confirm his claims.

The candidate for the Historical Pact asked his campaign committees and his followers to keep an eye on the money being handled during the electoral route, since, allegedly, this plan would be carried out from some prisons in the country.

“We have information about a plan drawn up from prisons to infiltrate my campaign with money from drug trafficking. Maximum attention to all municipal committees, money will only be raised in national management and for loans from the financial system,” the presidential candidate wrote on his Twitter account.

The senator expanded his statements on W Radio and assured that: “some drug traffickers in prisons were thinking of handing over money, putting it in any corner of the campaign and themselves disseminating the information to the press, a trap, there are recordings,” said the leader of the Historical Pact. He also called for “not to receive a weight from anyone, even if it seems as honest as possible,” he added in the radio media.

With these allegations, INPEC requested Petro to make a formal complaint and present the evidence to initiate the respective investigation with the competent entities. “The candidate is called upon to report to the respective authorities and that they can establish. Likewise, INPEC will be ready to meet any requirement in this regard,” the organization said to Semana Magazine.

For its part, the INPEC union told Noticias Caracol that they are not aware of these attempts to leak money from drug trafficking; however, they reiterated their support for Gustavo Petro in his electoral campaign to reach Casa de Nariño.

Centro Democrático accuses Gustavo Petro of having stolen a proposal from Álvaro Uribe

The Democratic Center party, and presidential candidate Gustavo Petro, of the Historical Pact, held a discussion again on April 11. This time, the right-wing political movement accused the left-wing leader of stealing a proposal that would have been made by former President Álvaro Uribe a few years ago.

The discussion began on Twitter, where candidate Petro wrote that he plans, to arrive at Casa de Nariño, to reform the school curriculum in the country so that in the last two years of training a chair focused on digital programming will be implemented. According to the politician, this measure could help position the country as a power in the technology sector.

“I propose to put as a subject of pensum in the last two years of high school, the development of computer programming. We would have 500,000 programming developers at the end of each year. If 100,000 continue the race, Colombia would be a world software power,” Petro wrote.

Hours later, the Democratic Center replied to the candidate that this proposal had already been submitted by Uribe in 2020 and that it even filed it before the Congress of the Republic. The party took advantage of the situation to point out Petro to steal ideas, but used the word “democratize”, because with that verb, in recent weeks, the left-wing politician has been singled out to want to expropriate resources and goods.

“Mr. Gustavo Petro, the proposal you have just launched is not yours, it is authored by Álvaro Uribe and his party, the Democratic Center, which was filed on July 20, 2020. It is already democratizing even ideas,” said the right-wing movement on Twitter.
