
The Tolantongo Caves are one of the favorite destinations for tourists because they are located near Mexico City, and their prices are very accessible. It is approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes on the way.
It has a camping area, bathrooms and showers, dressing rooms, security and basic medical service. There is a zip line 1890 m long and costs 200 pesos per person. The ticket office hours are from 6 am to 10 pm; thermal pools from 8 am to 9 pm; grottoes, tunnel, waterfalls and pools from 8 am to 5 pm; and the restaurant and kitchens from 8 am to 9 pm.
The general admission to the caves costs 150 pesos per person and it is important to mention that all payments are in cash, plus it is per day. This ticket gives you the possibility to enter all the attractions such as the grotto, the tunnel, river, pools, thermal pools, hanging bridges, waterfalls, among others. The validity is from 7 am to 8 pm and children under 4 years old are free. Parking costs 30 pesos a day.
On site it is possible to rent single rooms with a double bed for two people starting at 750 pesos per night or double beds from 1,000 pesos per night; it should be noted that pets are not allowed and reservations must be made upon arrival as it is not possible by phone or internet.
It is also possible to camp, the cost of camping rent is 150 pesos for a house of 4 people or 6 from 200 pesos. However, if you have camping equipment, it is only necessary to cover the entrance ticket to the park on the day of arrival and the next day.
Some of the recommendations that are given is to enjoy the pools from an early age, since throughout the day it becomes crowded with more people, especially during holidays such as the Easter week. In addition, all visitors are asked to go swimming in a bathing suit, even with babies who have to wear a special diaper. In addition to wearing special water shoes because at the entrance there are stones that can hurt the feet if only sandals are worn.
