A few days ago, the American magazine specializing in financial issues Forbes, released the annual ranking of the wealthiest people in the world. On the list, several Mexicans were included, both men and women.

The ranking in Mexico was led by Mexican businessman of Lebanese descent Carlos Slim Helú, who stood out as the richest person in Mexico and Latin America, as well as place in 13th position worldwide, which means that he climbed three positions, because in 2021, Slim was in 16th position.

A year ago, Slim had a fortune that amounted, according to Forbes, to USD 55,930 million, however, this year he managed to increase his fortune very sharply, as he now has a fortune of $81.2 billion.

Other Mexicans who stood out in the ranking were Germán Larrea Mota Velasco, owner of Grupo México, who managed to accumulate a fortune of USD 30,850 million; Ricardo Salinas Pliego, owner of Grupo Salinas, who accumulated USD 12.45 billion, and the children of the late businessman Alberto Bailleres, who amassed a fortune of USD 6.65 billion.

However, in Mexico there are other people who managed to enter the Forbes list. It must be remembered that, for the American magazine specializing in financial issues, it is necessary to accumulate a minimum of USD 1 billion. In Mexico, Forbes located 34 people who achieved this.

Among them, the presence of several women stands out, managing to position herself as bthe richest woman in Mexico, María Asunción Aramburuzabala, who ranks fifth among the wealthiest people in Mexico.

The businesswoman is heir to Grupo Modelo, a company founded by her grandfather, a Spaniard who arrived in Mexico during the first half of the last century, and which later passed into the hands of her father, who in turn, after his death, inherited it to Mariasun, as she is known among her family and friends.

He currently has a fortune of USD 6.18 billion, which means that he managed to increase it, since in 2021 he had a fortune of USD 5.63 billion.

The second wealthiest woman in the country is Eva Gonda, who is the widow of renowned Mexican businessman Eugenio Garza Lagüera. Upon his death in 2008, his wife and four daughters inherited 50% of the shares of Coca-Cola FEMSA, the conglomerate that became the largest public bottler of this American beverage brand.

Currently, Eva Gonda has a fortune of USD 5.7 billion, and is ranked sixth among the wealthiest people in Mexico. In 2021 he had the same fortune.

Karen Virginia Beckmann Legorreta is the third wealthiest woman in Mexico, with an estimated fortune of USD 2,841 million, which also places her 15th among the richest people in Mexico. She inherited from her father, Juan Francisco Beckmann Vidal, a nearly 36% stake in Becle SAB, a company that makes José Cuervo tequila, and is a member of the board of directors of Becle, where her brother is CEO. The company has been in the family for 250 years.

The fourth and last woman seen on the list of the wealthiest people in Mexico is Cynthia Grossman, who next to Bruce Grossman appears in 23rd position among the wealthiest people in Mexico.

They have an equity stake in bArca Continental, one of the world's leading Coca Cola bottlers, which, in 2020, reached sales of 169,314 million pesos. This year, according to Forbes, they have a fortune of USD 1.9 billion, which means that, compared to 2021, they increased their fortune, since in that year they had a cumulative amount of USD 1.46 billion.
