“Do not do us the evil of re-electing crime and champonería”: Ariel Ávila on Federico Gutiérrez

In the electoral contest to stay with Casa de Nariño, several of the candidates have made surprise moves, one of them was by Federico Gutiérrez calling Rodrigo Lara, former mayor of Neiva and member of the Green Party as vice presidency. A fact that attracted attention given that there was speculation that the formula of 'Fico' was going to be some figure from the Democratic Center or from the same series of pre-candidates of the Team for Colombia, but it was never taken into account that he had been a member of an 'alternative' sector.

One of the representative figures of the Green Alliance, Senator-elect Ariel Ávila, referred precisely to the issue by appointing Federico Gutiérrez as a candidate representing the current Government, for which reason he defined him as the representative of continuity. He also mentioned that in the coming hours he will publicly announce his support and intention to vote for the first and second round of the presidential elections that begin on May 29.

In the video posted on his social networks, Ávila refers in a speech to the disapproval of Duque's current mandate and what the eventual arrival of the Team's candidate for Colombia to the Casa de Nariño would represent: “In the democracies who rule badly must be punished, the one who is a bandit and a thief cannot be returned to re-elect. Therefore, the candidate of uribism and the candidate of continuity cannot be elected. We cannot vote for Federico Gutiérrez, it would be to re-elect theft, patronage, hamponery, crime...” .

Regarding the political community, on previous occasions the Senator-elect had mentioned that Lara does not represent the Green Sector and I reiterate it on this occasion: “Many sectors of my campaign will accompany Sergio Fajardo and many others Gustavo Petro, whatever decision we will already communicate, in the second round we will be with the candidate alternative that happens”.

Finally, the political scientist and senator-elect mentioned a campaign that would begin until the first presidential round begins. “May they not do us the evil of re-electing the crime and champonery that Federico Gutiérrez represents... The AntiFICO campaign, to show the country who it is. We are not going to tell a single lie, we are not going to slander anyone. What we are simply going to do is show the country who Federico Gutiérrez is, for example he is supported by the 'Char clan', the 'Geneco clan' who are a bunch of thugs. Oscar Barreto in Tolima who is another thug, that's what we are going to denounce.”

Petro throws double hint at candidate Federico Gutiérrez

On May 29, Colombia will define the future president or candidates who will be elected to contest the second round of the presidential election. Among the most likely to win or eventually reach a second round are the leader of the Historical Pact Gustavo Petro and the representative of the Team for Colombia coalition Federico Gutiérrez.

Petro recently took a hint to Federico Gutiérrez where he hinted that he was President Duque's candidate, also that he was going to lose the election but would give him the senator's office he is currently occupying, without first forgetting that he arrives at a 'decent office'.

In the first instance, Gustavo Petro would point out the direct relationship between Uribism and Fico's campaign, although Fico decided to join with Lara, who is apparently a Green Party figure, constant comments and political ties make the alliance between Gutiérrez and the Democratic Center evident.

Another hint from the leader of the Historical Pact was that he told Gutiérrez that he would leave him 'his senator's office', this as a reference to the Opposition Statute, which states that the second presidential candidate with the most votes has the right to a seat in the senate, just as the vice president has the right to occupy a seat in the House of Representatives. In short, Gustavo Petro said he was going to be the winner of the next election.

Finally, he pointed out that it is a 'decent office', referring to the controversial Gustavo Villegas, who was an official close to Federico's mayor's office in Medellín, but he was also pointed out by the authorities as an important collaborator of the Envigado Office, a criminal group responsible for trafficking and murder by order among other crimes.
