On Tuesday, April 12, it was announced that the Congressional Committee on Economics, Banking, Finance and Financial Intelligence approved the bill thata href="https://www.infobae.com/tag/retiro-de-fondos-afp/" rel="noopener noreferrer" empowers Pension Fund Administrators (AFPs) to return up to 4 ITU to members. It means that contributors could have an opportunity to release their savings.
This decision was informed by Congressman Edgar Tello (Peru Libre) through his social networks.
“Today, the Committee on Economics approved the withdrawal of the 4 ITU from AFP by a majority. We are fulfilling the promises in favor of the contributors,” he said in a tweet.
Given this and as an organizational measure, it is important to know that if you are a contributor to an AFP, you know how much is the amount you have saved during the years that have been deducted from your payroll.
It is worth mentioning that each AFP has a total record of all the contributions that each worker has made, this can be viewed on the website of the different entities, whether it corresponds to AFP Integra, Prima, Habitat and Profuturo.

IMPACT ON THE ECONOMY AFTER POSSIBLE WITHDRAWAL OF AFP
According to the adviser of the AFP Association, Joaquín Rey, he assured that this measure would put the welfare of contributors at risk, since more than S/ 27 billion would be disbursed and in total more than 7 million could be left without savings and this would generate great destabilization in the Peruvian economy.
“This withdrawal if you add it to the S/65,923 million that have already left the Private Pension System (SPP) , then, in almost two years, in total, more than S/92,000 would leave the pension funds, which is between 10% and 11% GDP,” the expert told Peru 21.
“We see that the Private Pension System is being destroyed a few by few. What had taken 30 years to build, vanished quickly,” he added.
In this context, he argued that there is no justification for these new AFP withdrawals, as the economy has been revived in various sectors. “Employment and production have already exceeded levels before the pandemic,” he said.
He also said that if this measure is approved by the government, all funds will be exhausted and old age will be unprotected. “Probably, in the future, the State will have to cover that with more social programs and that in the end all Peruvians will assume it through more taxes,” he said.
“The main claimant of Peruvian sovereign bonds has been AFP and now no longer because they are running out of liquidity. Every time the Government wants to get loans to build roads, schools, hospitals, it will have to pay more interest or go into debt in other countries,” he said for Peru 21.
