284 new cases of covid-19 reported in Colombia this April 12

The Ministry of Health reported, on April 12, 2022, 284 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia. In the last 24 hours, 25,440 tests were processed, of which 8,686 are PCR tests and 16,754 are antigens.

The report also noted that four Colombians died of the disease on the last day. In this way, the country reaches a total of 139,729 deaths due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

By aggregating all the figures, Colombia reached a total of 6,088,619 infections, of which 3,582 are active cases and 5,921,750 correspond to positive cases that have already managed to overcome the disease.

There are 176 conglomerates in the country. The territories are: Antioquia, Arauca, Atlántico, Barranquilla, Bogota, Boyaca, Caldas, Caqueta, Casanare, Cesar, Choco, Cordoba, Cundinamarca, Guainia Guaviare, Huila, La Guajira, Putumayo, Quindio, Risaralda, Sucre, Valle del Cauca, Vaupés.

This is how vaccination is going in the country

The most recent report from the Ministry of Health also points out that as of 11:59 on Sunday, April 10, 2022, a total of 81,700,313 doses of the vaccine against covid-19 had already been applied in Colombia.

According to the same report, the number of Colombians with the complete vaccination schedule, that is, those who have already received the two doses of the biological, currently amounts to 28,717,118 people, while 6,384,747 people have been immunized with single doses. Likewise, 10,868,755 booster doses have been applied.

Similarly, a total of 24,595 vaccines were applied during the last day, of which 5,769 were for the second injection, while another 1,012 were single-dose.

In view of the Easter holidays and festivities, Iván Cárdenas, deputy director of Communicable Diseases of the Ministry of Health, called for not neglecting practices and behaviors for the management and control of the risk of covid-19. “A call is made to all individuals, families and communities to maintain biosecurity measures such as hand washing during this Easter week, but above all, to prioritize completing vaccination schedules and applying the booster dose,” Cárdenas explained.

He also indicated that in case of holding or attending mass events, it is preferable that they be outdoors. In addition, it urged citizens to keep informed about new measures or recommendations issued by the national Government and municipal, district or departmental governments.

Taking into account the progress made in the National Vaccination Plan against covid-19 and the current situation of the pandemic in the country, it is recommended that the following points be taken into account:

1- Complete the vaccination schedules and apply the booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

2- Avoid crowds.

3- In closed places always wear the mask covering mouth and nose.

4- In case of holding or attending mass events that are preferably outdoors, in case they are held indoors, remember the need to wear a mask and complete the vaccination schedules.

5- Perform hand hygiene continuously.

6- If you have symptoms compatible with covid-19, isolate yourself preventively and avoid attending mass events or public places.

7- Strengthen additional self-care measures mentioned in Resolution 350 of 2022
