What is Easter?

Easter can have two different meanings and will depend on the type of belief. For example, in the case of Christians, Easter is the central holiday that commemorates the days of Jesus on Earth, celebrating with greater fervor the resurrection of Jesus, which occurred after he was crucified, that is, three days after his crucifixion. This day is also known as Resurrection Sunday or Glory Sunday.

Now, in the case of Jews, Passover is known as Pesach because of its Hebrew origin. For them it is a celebration in which they commemorate the freedom of their people who were slaves for several years to Egypt. This story was told in the Book of Exodus, in the Old Testament of the Bible and it was God, who through the prophet Moses began the path to freedom and surrender of the Promised Land. This holiday is celebrated every year, exactly on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan.

What is Holy Week?

Holy Week is a time of religious fervor for Catholics and other believers in Christ. This has been going on for 2,000 years, since it is the annual commemoration of Jesus' passion, death and resurrection.

This holiday has specific dates and begins on Sunday, also called Palm Sunday and ends with a similar day, called Resurrection Sunday. On this last date, the experiences of Jesus of Nazareth are remembered.

Peru is a country with great religious devotion and several churches are often visited, in some cases there are 7 and in others it exceeds that number and a clear example is the Ayacuch region or where there are 33 churches.

The difference between Easter and Easter is very easy to identify.

Holy Week is the celebration of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and has a long period of permanence because it starts from Palm Sunday and ends on Resurrection Sunday.
