(Bloomberg) — Elon Musk will no longer hold a question and answer session with Twitter Inc. staff this week as he will not hold a seat on the company's board of directors.

The richest person in the world was scheduled to join Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal for a session called “ask me anything” with Twitter staff after the company announced last week that Musk had acquired a stake of more than 9% and would join the board.

But the meeting was canceled after Musk decided not to occupy a position. Employees have Monday off corresponding to a monthly rest day offered by the company. The break is timely as several people described that the environment was very stressful and that there were employees who worked together to help each other end the week.

Anyway, the Twitter staff had mixed feelings about the session with Musk. He could have clarified whether Musk had friendly or hostile plans with his participation, but he could also have raised more doubts about how to react to his whims.

By inviting Musk to join the board and speak with the staff, Agrawal gave the impression that the relationship would be friendly. But the sudden change of heart about his position on the board generated new speculation about Musk's intentions. By not joining the board, Musk is no longer subject to a suspension agreement that would have limited his stake to 14.9%.

Agrawal warned of “onward distractions” in his Sunday note. One employee expressed concern that Musk “was just warming up engines, which is unfortunate.” Several employees described the situation as a “disaster”.
