Although the Peruvian Federation has not yet confirmed the rival that will play with Peru prior to the repechage against Australia or the United Arab Emirates, for the quota for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Infobae was able to know that they are looking for a rival that has the game similar to Tunisia, since they already know how France and Denmark play, rivals they faced in Russia 2018.

Under this premise, Morocco is one of the options to play in Spain, on June 5 at the RCDE Stadium (Espanyol). That is why this media outlet contacted Amine Birouk, a Moroccan journalist who works at Radio Mars Morroco to analyze their nation's game and tell how the possibility of them playing against the Peruvian national team is going.

“It is rumored that there may be a friendly match. It depends on the African Football Confederation, because we normally had four official matches within the predictable ones for the Africa Cup, but there was a request from Tunisia and Morocco to suspend some matches on the FIFA dates. What is rumored is that we will be playing with a team from South America and there is talk of Peru, but there is no official confirmation at the moment,” Amine Birouk, a Moroccan journalist working at Radio Mars Morroco, told Infobae.

“There are negotiations between both federations, since Peru would play in the World Cup with Tunisia and there are similarities between Tunisia's and Morocco's style of play. This match is much more profitable for the Peruvian national team than for Morocco, since it will have as rivals in the World Cup two teams from Europe such as Croatia and Belgium. Then it will be Canada, which is a different style of play than Peru, Brazil or Argentina,” he added.

However, we asked him about the Moroccan style of play, to which Amine Birouk commented as follows. “Morocco plays its sixth World Cup and the second in a row. It has a game similar to that of many Latin countries, because it is played with a lot of technique and physical performance, since most of its players play in Europe or have been raised in European football. If we talk about figures, we can name Achraf Hakimi, who plays for PSG in France, Youssef En Nesyri and goalkeeper Yassine Bounou from Seville and some players who are in English football like Romain Saiss, the player from Wolverhampton”.

“Morocco is Africa's second best team in the FIFA standings, as they are in 24th place and have made a good Africa Cup and were eliminated by Egypt in the quarterfinals in extra time. Now, there is a very serious project for Moroccan football with a lot of training, with a lot of infrastructure,” Amine Birouk told Infobae.

PERU VS. MOROCCO HAVE ALREADY FACED

That June 6, 1970, Peru would make history in the world championships by achieving its first and only win in this type of contests, which is how Didí's team faced the Moroccan squad that failed against the Inca power that showed off that afternoon in Mexico. Amine Birouk, a Moroccan journalist working at Radio Mars Morroco, remembers that match. “In the 1970 World Cup, both countries met for the only time and Peru won 3-0. Morocco endured the draw until the 65th minute and then after a fall in the physical issue, which was taken advantage of by the Peruvian national team with the figure of Teófilo Cubillas,” he sentenced Infobae.
