The Pink Moon or Supermoon is an astronomical phenomenon and is so called because of the position of the moon in the sky and because it marks the beginning of the flowering season of the plant. of the genus Wild Ground P hlox, or pink moss, and is one of the main ones of spring.
The Native Americans were the ones who gave it this name to identify that the astronomical phenomenon happens in the flowering of this moss. The truth is that you will not see a color change, but you will be able to see more intense; this due to the result of the reflection with the sun, which will make it radiate more brightness than usual.
In some civilizations, the full moon in April is also known as the Paschal Moon, referring to the coincidence of this phenomenon with the Christian liturgical calendar, since it is on Easter and Holy Week dates.
Plants of the genus Phlox have a rather pleasant aroma and some can be climbing, others mossy and others are used to grow it. Almost all Phlox species produce flowers of colors such as white, pink, red, purple or even blue. They are perfect to have them in the garden as they do not require too much care, it is recommended to have them in the sun since in the shade they do not produce as many flowers and water them constantly so they don't dry out.
This phenomenon will be observed in Mexico on April 16, its sunset will be approximately 1:17pm and its maximum splendor from 20:05pm and will be seen throughout the country. It will be possible to continue watching the next morning, and from 7:00am it will no longer be appreciated. It is also recommended to observe it from a point where the sky is not cloudy.
This April moon will be at a geocentric distance of 370 thousand 225 km, that is, at a distance considered close to our planet. So it may cause the feeling that it is larger than normal.
But this is not the only phenomenon that can be seen in the month of April, the pink moon will give way to the shower of Líridas stars, having its busiest peak on the night of April 22. And although ideal conditions are very specific as completely dark and pollution-free skies, it is possible to see this phenomenon mainly in places far away from the city and populated areas. By this date the moon will be in the last quarter.
This shower of stars is so named because it comes from the constellation of Lyria, and they are also known as lyrids of April because it happens every year in this month. It is a shower of meteors that are particles of dust that come off especially from the comet called Thatcher.
The famous Lyria constellation is born from the Greek myth that after the death of Orpheus, son of Apollo and Calliope, Zeus ordered an eagle to pick up his lyre to climb it into the sky and thus his exploits were immortalized by the stars. Thus, this constellation was born.
Historically, it is considered to be the oldest recorded star shower according to NASA, since it has been observed for 2,700 years.
