This Monday, April 11, in the Congress of the Republic, the autograph of law was signed that establishes the payment of 100% of compensation for time of service (CTS) to teachers.
WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?
- From now on, teachers will have a CTS of 100% of their full monthly remuneration, per year or fraction greater than six months of official services effectively worked, counted from their appointment to the date of retirement.
- In addition, teachers who leave in 2022 will receive 50% of the CTS pay this year, 20% in 2023 and 30% in 2024.
- Meanwhile, those who retire in 2023 will receive 70% of their CTS that year and 30% the following year; while teachers who retire from 2024 onwards will receive 100% at the time of cessation.
SIGNING CEREMONY
The ceremony was attended by the head of Parliament, María del Carmen Alva, who signed the autograph in the presence of the members of the Education Commission and other legislators.
For the head of the Legislature, one of the important and consensual issues in Parliament has been the need to support the education sector, and to that end various laws have been promoted. He also stressed that the law autograph revalues the teaching career.
“Issues of national interest deserve the attention of all sectors, setting particular objectives for the benefit of the country,” he said and expressed his commitment to education.
ALVA RESPONDS TO CRITICISM
On the other hand, the president of the Congress responded to the controversy that arose after the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, accused Parliament of distorting the bill to exonerate the IGV for basic food.
Alva acknowledged that this was a mistake “that can be corrected”. However, he regretted the confrontationist attitude of the Government and the criticism received by the legislature.
“Today we are going to see that issue, which is to modify this item and fix the issue [of the law that exonerates the IGV], what cannot be fixed with an article is the misrule and chaos we are experiencing, that is why we all ask the president to step aside,” he stressed.
“In that text it did not expressly say about the exoneration of the goose or the pheasant, but since it is a technical issue, it says “meat”. That can be corrected, there are always observations and they are corrected, it was not necessary that those statements of the premier were given just to disunite,” he added.
“The premier is confrontational when he has to seek consensus, as he is in his last days, how he made statements about Hitler, whom he admires, shameful those statements, he wanted to divert attention,” he said.
He also indicated that “in Congress nobody barricades himself in his seat, nobody and if there have to be general elections, there will be general elections, because all we think is that Peru is okay and we don't want more chaos and misrule. We want union for Peruvians.”
