74% of Peruvians say government decisions affect the country's economy

New Datum survey shows that 36% do not have enough income to cover their expenses and have debts that are difficult to pay.

A new survey conducted by Datum for the newspaper Perú 21 shows that 74% of people surveyed agree that the political decisions being made by the Pedro Castillo government have a negative impact on the economy of the country and Peruvians. 17% think they are positive and 4% say that they do not involve anything.

Regarding the prices of food and basic necessities, 96% indicated that they have continued to rise in the last two months, 2% consider that they have remained the same and only 1% that they have fallen.

In this datum survey, conducted between April 2 and 4 at the national level, he also mentions that 36% have economic difficulties, since their income is not enough to cover their expenses, they have many hard-to-pay debts and will live in debt for a long time.

Another 45% say that with their income they cover only part of their expenses, they have debts that they are effortlessly paying.

Also, when asked, are their economic incomes higher, equal or lower than what they had before the pandemic? 54% answered that they are minors, 33% are equal and 11% are equal.

On the other hand, due to the political and social crisis in Peru, 68% are afraid of losing their jobs or entrepreneurship, in contrast to 21% who say they have neither.

The survey was conducted by Datum International from 2 to 4 April at the national level among men and women aged 18 to 70, belonging to all socioeconomic levels. The sample size was 1121 people, with a margin of error of 2.9%.

A recent survey gives an account of the perception of the population following the president's latest controversial decisions.

PEDRO CASTILLO'S

On the other hand, an Ipsos poll conducted by Ipsos for América Tv, 76% disapprove of the administration of the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, in just nine months of government.

The study also reveals that only 19% of Peruvians support Castillo and 5% do not need it.

The situation in the interior of the country is similar, with 24% approving the president's actions, but in Lima 88% do not approve it.

At the regional level, the south, the area of greatest support for the president, 37%; in the north 16% support it, while in the center and east acceptance reaches 21% and 24%, respectively.

The research also shows that in socioeconomic sectors D and E the approval of Pedro Castillo's performance is higher: 18% and 29%.

At socioeconomic level C, it reaches only 14% support. In strata A and B, this indicator is only 6 per cent and 11 per cent, respectively.
