The District Institute of Recreation and Sports, IDRD, announced the restrictions that must be taken into account for the ascent to the hill of Monserrate during Easter in 2022. One of them is that for prevention and to guarantee the safety of those attending Monserrate, during the Major Week, women with advanced pregnancies, children under one meter tall and adults over 75 years old will not be allowed to climb to the hill
According to IDRD information, it is totally forbidden to climb the trail in the company of pets, in a state of liquidation or under the influence of hallucinogenic substances.
There are 1,605 steps at 3,200 meters high, so it is important to perform good hydration during the route and have a good state of health.
It should be noted that the Monserrate trail will be closed on Tuesday, April 12 and will be open on the following holy days: Sunday 10, Thursday 14, Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April, between 5:00 a.m. and noon, according to the announcement of the Mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, at a press conference
According to the information from IDRD, on Monday 11 and Wednesday 13 it will be operating from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Tuesday the 12th there will be no service due to maintenance issues, as usual.
In addition, for the busiest days, people have the last option to go down the trail at 4:00 p.m. From that time there will be a sweep so that people do not stay in the place later.
The capacity will be controlled by the talanqueras because according to calculations, approximately in the holy days, there is a rise of 60,000 people daily.
The president also confirmed that the Padado Plan will be maintained in the city, which has 34 mixed control points, made up of members of the Police and the National Army, at the entrances, exits, main roads and strategic points of Bogotá.
“For Cerro de Monserrate, it is very important to maintain permanent precautions and care in order to minimize the risks of Covid-19 infection, especially in shared spaces, for this we have established different prevention measures taking into account the stipulations of resolution 666 of April 24 to prevent the virus from to spread. Before entering Cerro de Monserrate, all users must comply with the preventive measures established without exception, for us, the most important thing is to take care of our employees and visitors”, they indicate on the Monserrate website.
In addition, it should be borne in mind that during the tour it is mandatory to use the mask and the minimum physical distance of two meters. To access the trail you can approach without prior registration, the capacity will be controlled directly on site. It is also recommended to:
- Carry a self-care kit with antibacterial gel or alcohol, towel and personal water bottle.
- Do not consume food during the ascent.
- Wear comfortable clothes and appropriate footwear.
- Use sunscreen.
- Hydrate during the tour.
- To comply with the instructions of the authorities and IDRD staff.
- Stay on the right to ascend and descend.
- In case of agglomeration, keep calm and do not go out on unauthorized paths or trails.
