The story of Abril Campillo, the woman who was the lover of Luis Miguel and Luisito Rey at the same time

Luis Miguel is considered one of the most important singers in all of Latin America thanks to his performances. During its trajectory of approximately 40 years has tried to keep his personal life out of the spotlight by sparking some speculations, mainly related to his romantic partners and children. Although it was thought that he would never talk about it, in 2018 he decided to portray some passages in his controversial bioseries.

However, many rumors were left out of the dramatization starring Diego Boneta. Such was the case of the torrid romance that he would have experienced with Abril Campillo, a performer who shone in the time of the Ficheras Cinema. Apart from the relationship they were able to have, it was striking that El Sol de México would not have been the only member of her family to maintain a loving contact with her.

Who is Abril Campillo?

Abril Campillo was born on December 14, 1958 in Mexico. When she turned 20, she made her acting debut in Las del Talón, a film directed by Alejandro Galindo. Her talent and beauty soon caught the attention of the public to the extent that she was considered one of the most outstanding vedettes of the 70s.

In the following years he participated in Asphalt Rats, Corruption, Massacre in the Tula River, A Male in the Hall of Beauty, El agarratodo, Wet from birth, The king of the albures, The cornet of my general, Witness of a crime, Urban violence, For all I have, to mention some of the more than 120 films he filmed at throughout his 40-year career.

He also formed a strong bond of friendship with director Ismael Rodríguez, who became his mentor, according to the actress herself in some interviews. From the cinema he jumped to the small screen with soap operas such as Marisol, La culpa, Embrázame very strong, Amigas y rivales, Class 406, Amar again, among others.

Not only that, he also ventured into the music scene with Sol solecito and El beso en el colosseum; the latter song was censored due to the double meaning of the lyrics. Abril Campillo never married and did not have children. Her life ended in March 2017, after spending about three years fighting breast cancer.

But that was not all, during the same years there was a rumor that the actress had also been romantically involved with Luisito Rey. The Puerto Rican has never spoken about it, his late father didn't either, but the Mexican interpreter did.

In an interview for the YouTube channel of the entertainment journalist, Gustavo Adolfo Infante, Abril Campillo told his side of the story. According to her explanation, during her youth she was in love with Luis Miguel and, without hesitation twice, she sought a way to get close to him. To do this, he would first have had to break an almost indestructible barrier, Luisito Rey.

“In order to enter with Luis Miguel, to be able to get there during the father's time, you had to pass the dad's customs because he wouldn't let [...] I went in there to help and because the truth is that I loved Luis Miguel, but you had to go through customs for dad because otherwise he wouldn't let you get there, it was that easy,” he declared.

The actress hinted that she was not the only one to try, Isabel Lascurain, a member of Pandora, would also have sought to establish communication with Luis Miguel but would not have succeeded by unleashing the fury of the singer's controversial agent: “The guy was crazy”.

During the talk, Abril Campillo avoided delving into the subject and when the journalist questioned her about whether she had had a relationship with the two, she merely answered with laughter: “As Juan Gabriel would say, what is seen is not judged”.
