The political organization Nuevo Peru has decided to respond to the harsh criticism expressed by Anahí Durand, the former minister of the Minister for Women and Vulnerable Populations during the government of Pedro Castillo. The former member of the Executive considered that the organization committed a “strategic error” by joining “the opposition camp already taken over by the right, acting as a tail van from the center right. The line of 'democratic opposition' that was imposed in New Peru is already used by the Morados and other privileged sectors.”
The statement published on social networks by the national secretary, E velyn Capchi, assures that at no time was the professionalism, convictions or political balance of Durand's management under the Ministry of Women's Affairs in question. However, he added that “the latter was in doubt”. Regarding the position of New Peru, he said that the government was supported “endorsed by a program to initiate transformations”, a fact that motivated them to make their technical cadres available.
“But what comrade Anahí does not say, and compañera Anahí is silent, is that Castillo, proclaimed president, stopped relying on the strength that the social movement gave him unconditionally, and he inexorably abandoned the program and the agreements signed by him; in the interest of seeking consensus with the right wing, a right that since on the first day he did not want it and he did not want it in the Government” also manages to be read in the letter published. It should be recalled that Verónika Mendoza, former presidential candidate for New Peru, approached the campaign of today's president of the republic to show her support and try to bring it closer to the guidelines they had defended during the election season.
DIRECT RESPONSE
The representative of New Peru blamed Vladimir Cerrón for generating the change of direction that occurred from the Executive. “(It is) inclined to find enemies on the left and good friends on the right. In collusion with Vladimir Cerrón, they ended up getting rid of the only 4 left-wing or progressive ministers in the ministerial cabinet and replacing them with right-wing people. In this way he moved away from the great opportunity to start the process of transformations for the benefit of the country and the majority,” says Capchi.
On Durand's claims that New Peru had chosen to approach the center-right, the national secretary of the political organization asked that it “not be confused or intended to confuse” by making such comments. “This is a distortion of reality. The policy is manifested in concrete slogans for action: I urge the comrade to demonstrate that the NP lifts the politics of these sectors, such as 'advance of elections' or 'outside Castle' or 'vacancy, '” he said.
“That is why our slogans are: “Castillo, keep your promises”, “Castle, not rising living standards” “Neither coup nor betrayal” “new Constitution”. We ask him where is the “centrist line” or do those sectors pose the same thing? We are not a caboose of centrism or opportunism,” added the representative of the group, who at some point sought to create close ties with the government of the day. At the end of the statement, Durand's decision to leave the presidency of New Peru to continue working as an advisor to the presidency of the Council of Ministers, a working group led by Aníbal Torres, was recalled. Regarding this decision, Durand had already indicated that it responds to the desire to be part of a “popular government that must be relaunched”.
