This weekend, Democratic Center Senator María Fernanda Caba posted a video through her Facebook account comparing Gustavo Petro, candidate for President for the Historical Pact, with former President Juan Manuel Santos.

Petro es Santos” was the message that the congresswoman wrote along with a recording of the former Colombian president when he won re-election in 2014 against Oscar Iván Zuluaga, in the second round. In the fragment, taken from the Telesur channel, Santos is seen celebrating while thanking all the political sectors that supported him on his electoral journey.

“Thanks to the Progressives movement and the members of the Democratic Pole. Among the progressives, of course, is their leader, mayor [of Bogotá] Gustavo Petro,” said the former president at the time.

Subsequently, in the background the story of a woman sounds in which citizens are invited to “be careful” with this type of political ties. “Coherence is essential to build trust and legitimacy in citizens, so we must be careful with those who for personal convenience exchange their ideals for political gain.”

The video, which was published this Friday, already has more than 56,000 views on that social network. In addition, thousands of people have spoken out both for and against.

Recall that, in the last week, María Fernanda Cabal expressed her disagreement with the appointment of Alfonso Prada as head of debate for Petro, saying that he is close to former president Santos: “The close friend and defender of the usurper Juan Manuel Santos, Alfonso Prada, will be Gustavo Petro's debate leader. Like that, or clearer? Petro=Santos. Beware of fraud,” the congresswoman said on her Twitter account.

The criticism was joined by other citizens on social networks who recalled Prada's passage through the leadership of the National Learning Service (SENA), where he was accused of alleged corruption. However, the investigations circulating in the Attorney General's Office were closed due to lack of evidence in early 2022.

Prada will be responsible for strengthening the proposals, coordinating the preparation of the candidate and articulating the arguments for the campaign in the presidential debate, as announced in the official presentation of the Historical Pact last Wednesday. In addition, among other positions, he was representative to the House and Secretary General during the administration of Juan Manuel Santos.

In recent days, Senator Caleña once again criticized one of the possible alliances that will reach Gustavo Petro's team: that of former President Ernesto Samper. On his Twitter account, Cabal shared an image showing how balloons lift an elephant, while saying “Samper lands in the Historical Pact”.

Things that come through WhatsApp. What do you think? ”, triumphed the congresswoman next to the image.

These versions came after Congressmen Roy Barreras and María José Pizarro held a meeting with Samper and his son, former Senate candidate Miguel Samper Strouss.

“With President Samper we are united by history. We share spaces like the Puebla group. And well, what we did was start talking about the organization and participation of sectors of the center, to support the Historical Pact,” said Pizarro, now senator-elect, through her social networks.

“He obviously told us that his greatest interest has to do with the continuity and commitment of the Pact in the realization of the peace accords and to a new economic model, to manage the post-pandemic. We are committed to an era of peace that cannot be postponed for our country,” he added.
