The deputy prosecutor of José Domingo Pérez, Paulina Roque Soplapuco, reported that her laptop was stolen with valuable information for the Cocktails Case, a criminal proceeding in which she is involved Keiko Fujimori, for money laundering, and other characters from the leadership of the Popular Force.

According to Roque Sopapuco's statement to the Peruvian National Police, she arrived at her home in San Borja and found the door of her apartment forced from outside. Upon entering and inspecting the place, he realized that his valuables or money were not taken, but only his work tool, owned by the Public Prosecutor's Office.

“In my case and Dr. Pérez, we are dedicated to the Cocktails case, by Mrs. Keiko Fujimori and Fuerza Popular. The device contained all the information about that case. The circumstances under which the laptop was stolen are highly questionable because they only took the device when there were other valuable devices in the department. (...) This information could be of interest if it were to reach the adverse party,” said the prosecutor deputy to La República.

Paulina Roque Soplapuco clarified that the information on the laptop is not lost, since she secured, out of caution, the device information on other hard drives. His concern is that “the laptop with confidential information gets into the wrong hands or is understood in a negative way”.

In addition, he noted that the apparatus had also been used by another deputy prosecutor, who was involved in the Westfield Capital investigation against former President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.

Members of the San Borja police station, upon arriving at the home of the deputy prosecutor, found eight fingerprints, which would belong to the criminals. In addition, they concluded that only the door of Roque Sopapuco's apartment was violated, since there was no struggle at the main entrance of the 4-story building where he lives.

“Dr. Domingo Pérez and I have communicated to Senior Prosecutor Rafael Vela about the event. And we have suggested that the Office of the Prosecutor of the Nation provide appropriate measures to precaution personnel and to guarantee in some way the treatment of information (...) it gives me a little fear in myself after what happened, I feel more protected inside the entity than outside it. We hope that the institution can take appropriate measures and give us more protection,” said Roque.

PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE PRONOUNCES

Through social networks, the Attorney General's Office reported that it has become aware of the theft of the laptop assigned to prosecutor Paulina Roque Soplapuco, deputy to incumbent provincial prosecutor José Domingo Pérez.

“Due to the evidence and evidence of the theft, it alerts citizens and authorities that it would be an event that would attempt to obstruct the investigations of the Lava Jato Special Team linked to corruption crimes of officials and the Odebrecht company,” his tweet reads.

It also reported that the Office of the Prosecutor is managing the corresponding actions to ensure the safety of the prosecutor and investigations she is responsible for.

“This is in addition to the fact of 08.06.2021 reported by the prosecutor Walter Edgardo Villanueva, for the theft in his home -where he is assigned equipment for his investigations-, communicated in official letter No. 1342-2021-FSCEE-MP-FN by the coordinating prosecutor of the Special Team, Rafael Vela,” the statement concludes.
