The Justice, which had already declared the institution's bankruptcy, ordered the cessation of the sporting activity of Catania Calcio, a team that hosted the Peruvian player for two seasons Juan Manuel 'El Loco' Vargas. And it is that this Saturday, the Court of Etna (Catania) ordered the cessation of the sporting activity of Catania Calcio, from Serie C, which will not be able to play the last four remaining matches of this season of the bronze category of Italian football.

Recall that on December 22, the same court officially declared Catania bankrupt. As a result, postponements and extensions in the offices of the Italian cast became protagonists. Until this moment, when the court officially removed the rossazzurri club from the third division, in which they occupied the 11th place with options to get into the play-offs for promotion to Serie B.

“It is with great regret that the termination of the provisional year during the regular season causes serious damage to the Serie C championship and this is a situation that, as president of the League, I never wanted to experience,” said Francesco Ghirelli, president of the Lega Pro, in an official statement.

The Court's decision, communicated to Catania, comes after the “lapse due to non-compliance with the obligation to pay the full amount of consideration” of the businessman Benedetto Mancini, who had submitted the club's only offer to purchase, although he did not disburse the total amount set for the transaction of around 500 thousand euros, explains the Lega Pro in the writing.

For its part, Catania informed in a statement that it will request an “extraordinary financial intervention, or a contribution from the Lega Pro, to the extent that it allows to combine interest in continuity in the current championship with the interests of the club's bankruptcy proceedings”.

The 'Loco' Vargas made his name known in Catania

Catania saw in the 'Loco' Juan Manuel Vargas a great prospect and bet on his talent, spending more than three million dollars.

“The president of Catania came to see me exclusively. I already had something closed with Catania. But I had a proposal from Portsmouth. I was more seduced by England with Portsmouth, because of the money issue. In the end we went and I didn't know any English. I trained there for a month, but there was a play between representatives that I didn't like, but the window in Catania with Italy was open and we decided to go there,” said the Peruvian winger in an interview in the “Fe del Cuto” segment.

Juan Manuel Vargas played for two years in Catania and played 69 matches scoring 5 goals in Serie A. After his good performances, Fiorentina set his sights on the Peruvian and hired him for five seasons, where at one point he reached his best level playing on the European continent, being covers in the main Italian newspapers of that time.
