The future of James Rodríguez will always be a topic that will be talked about, since the Cucuteño has on more than one occasion expressed his intention to abandon Qatari football to return to the elite of international football.

In the past few days there was a rumor of an alleged interest in Sao Paulo. However, these rumors were denied by journalist Jorge Nicola, who reported that he had a conversation with the president of the Brazilian club and ruled out any possibility of hiring former Real Madrid.

However, the '10' of the Colombia national team would have an option to leave Qatar's Al-Rayyan, since the Americas of Mexico or the Regiomontans Tigres and Monterrey have the financial capacity to sign him.

In 2020, when he was part of the 'Merengue' club, during an interview with Daniel Habif, the Colombian fielder chose the Aztec country's league and left the door open to play there.

For now, James Rodriguez must remain focused with his team that began his participation in the Asian Champions League, where he defeated Istiklol Dushande from Tajikistan in his debut 3-2 as a visitor.

It should be recalled that Al Rayyan is part of Group A which is made up of Sharjah SC, from the United Arab Emirates, Istiklol Dushande, from Tajikistan and Al Hilal Riyadh from Saudi Arabia, which is the current champion of the competition.

Precisely, Al Rayyan's next rival will be Al Hilal Riyadh, which is led by Argentina's Ramón Díaz and who started defending the title with a home win.

However, the former Banfield was not from the start of the tournament, which generated speculation about the situation of the Colombian, since according to Qatari media Tembah, James would be pressuring his club to force his exit as soon as possible.

Similarly, the media outlet states that James Rodríguez had already informed the Al Rayyan directors of his intention to seek new air.

The 30-year-old's contract with Al-Rayyan runs until June 2024, for this reason, the club that wants to take over James' services will have to pay a termination clause close to seven million euros.

For its part, Al Rayyan denied everything that is being said about the James Rodriguez case following statements from Chilean coach Nicolás Córdova, who confirmed that former Bayern Munich is suffering from an injury.

This season, James Rodriguez has played 14 matches with his team: 12 in the league and two in the Copa del Emir. In the same way, he accumulates five goals and seven assists, making him the player who scored the most goals in the squad.
