After former President Vicente Fox Quesada urged citizens not to go to the polls to cast their vote in the Mandate Revocation, which will decide whether Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) will continue to head the federal executive or not, the expanist was criticized on social media for spreading a fake video on the election day that is taking place this Sunday, April 10.
And the fact is that the former president accused of alleged irregularities in the boxes, this because in the video you can see two women filling a ballot box with ballots. However, the clip shared by Vicente Fox dates from the Popular Consultation held on August 1, 2021, which aimed to know whether or not to proceed against the political actors of the past.
In this regard, the director of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Ciro Murayama, urged the former blue and white not to contribute to disinformation by disseminating materials that lost their validity and are not related to the Revocation of Mandate.
“Mr. Former President, eye! The video you disseminate is of facts from August 1, 2021. The ballot box says “popular consultation”. It's not today, fortunately. Don't contribute to misinformation,” Murayama wrote through his official Twitter account.
However, the criticism of Fox Quesada did not stop there, because although he prevented users of this social network from commenting on his false post, netizens retweeted with comments, in which they pointed out that the former president's post was false and condemned posts of this type made on social networks, since contribute to the loss of trust.
“This video is from the last election where the INE did everything impossible so that people did not go out to vote and we could not prosecute you”, “Fox that is from the past consultation better delete the tweet”, “Fox's p*ndejo sharing a video of the popular consultation”, “Poor güey, putting past elections”, “Did the pension hurt you?” , “You are fine imbecile” and “They already caught you spreading lies, marijuana chachalaca”, were some of the comments received by the former president's publication.
In this context, the INE clarified a video in which, allegedly, irregularities were shown in a box located in Celaya, Guanajuato. In this regard, the electoral authority chaired by Lorenzo Córdova Vianello said that “the regulations indicate that all party representatives in the polls can, if they so wish, sign the back of the ballots, to reinforce guarantees of certainty,” he said.
Likewise, the Assistant Electoral Trainer in Box C1 of Section 0481 of Celaya, in the presence of representatives of political parties, accused that the remarks were made by members of the National Action Party (PAN) and explained that all ballots in that box are signed on the back by the representative of the Movimiento Regeneración Nacional party ( “There is no crime being committed here, nor has anything been done against the law,” he said.
Recently, Vicente Fox launched himself against AMLO by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) presented by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), a situation in which he questioned the economic decisions that Tabasqueño has made and pointed out that since he took office in 2018, “things have gotten worse” in the country.
“Increases in food have a high social cost and affect expectations: Minuta Banxico. To enlighten us, take drastic measures in this regard! Tell Lopez that time is running out and things have only gotten worse!” , Fox said.
