The Mayor's Office of Medellín announced that the operation with which it seeks to guarantee the safety of citizens and tourists in the city during Holy Week that begins this Sunday is ready. The device will involve security agencies, emergencies and the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley.
According to the municipal administration, the operation will be very similar to the one carried out at the end of the previous year, which according to the figures, left favorable results. For this, there will be more than two thousand uniformed members of the National Police on the device.
With the presence of the public forces, the city's terminals will be under constant control and monitoring, according to the Mayor's Office of Medellín.
“We have a whole device with men and women who are committed to care and prevention in these celebrations. In addition, we have identified 70 points, temples and places of concentration that we have prioritized. There will be the 2,200 troops dedicated to security and coexistence this Holy Week,” said the Commander of the Metropolitan Police, General Javier Martín Gámez.
It is estimated that 650,000 passengers will travel through both terminals between April 8 and 18, that is, 82% of users who transited in 2019 and without restrictions due to covid-19.
