Next week in Colombia, Holy Week is commemorated, an important holiday for Catholics around the world who will remember the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is a time of rest and reflection for a large number of people.

In addition, the two presidential candidates most likely to win the presidential elections, according to the latest polls, Gustavo Petro and Federico Gutiérrez, will look for a time to pause. However, a month and a half after the first round, every minute becomes valuable and they won't be able to stop too long.

As reported in Noticias Caracol, the candidate of the left-wing coalition Pact Histórico, Gustavo Petro, will travel to the department of Córdoba, where he is from. There he will spend the senior week accompanied by his family.

Senator Armando Benedetti, Petro's right-hand man in his candidacy, said:

It should be remembered that the senator and former mayor of Bogotá has defined himself as a Catholic and spiritual person, even if he is not a regular attendee to mass.

With regard to Francia Márquez, who has openly expressed that she feels conflicted with Christianity because it was its representatives who enslaved her ancestors, it is only known that she will attend a public event in Barrancamermeja (Santander) this Saturday, April 9; there are no further details of her agenda after this date.

In the best style of influencers, the presidential candidate for the Team for Colombia, Federico Gutiérrez, recorded himself talking about his plans for next Holy Week.

Fico, who has shown right-wing positions and told Semana that, “I believe in God and the vast majority of Colombians believe in God, in some religion,” said he will travel to various parts of the country during the three working days of next week, starting with the municipality of Jericho (Antioquia).

Rodrigo Lara Sánchez, his vice-presidential formula, said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País that he is a Catholic person and that he would not personally perform an abortion, although the problem should be thought of as a public health issue. He'll take the next few days to rest.

It will undoubtedly be a necessary break for the candidates and their vice-presidential formulas, which accelerated their agendas before the arrival of Holy Week.

For example, Gustavo Petro spent last weekend doing his four-point cardinal tour, where he passed through La Guajira, the Amazon, the Guaviare and the Pacific Nariñense. He was also in the departments of Huila and Antioquia with his proposal Petro Te Escucha and went to Bogotá to present his head of debate.

Meanwhile, Federico Gutiérrez was in Bogotá presenting his government program, in addition to meeting with the trade union sector in the capital and with the mayors of Fedemunicipios in Cartagena.
