Teofilo Gutierrez surprises with the launch of his own perfume: Teo-29

Through his social networks, Colombian footballer Teófilo Gutiérrez surprised his million and a half followers by announcing the launch of his own perfume brand. For several days now, the striker has been very active on Instagram, leaving confusing messages to the fans of Deportivo Cali, who even speculated that the athlete is considering retiring.

For now, it has been confirmed that what the footballer has been working on is the production of this venture that will bear the name 'Teo-29'. In a video lasting more than a minute, Gutiérrez revealed details of the work he has done to bring this fragrance forward, which will be manufactured by the Colombian company 'La Tour'.

This company is located in Cali, Valle del Cauca, and is recognized for achieving high quality standards thanks to its cutting-edge technology and modern facilities; which guarantees that the athlete's brand will be able to exceed 'the European perfume'. In the middle of the process Gutiérrez was in the laboratories and supervised every detail of the production as seen in the publication.

The athlete did not reveal more details about the launch of the perfume, as he only wrote in the publication anticipating that it will be released “very soon”. In the comments, footballers such as Hernán Menosse, Camilo Zúñiga, Johan Andrés Mojica and other Gutierrez followers reacted positively to the news, sending him good wishes for this new project.

In the same way, many mentioned the chance that Theophilus earned the nickname 'The Perfume'. Coincidence or not, after this became the most popular nickname of the Deportivo Cali striker, Gutiérrez lived up to the nickname and released his own fragrance.

'Teo' has been the most popular nickname for the barranquillero whose real name is Teófilo Antonio Gutiérrez Roncancio; however, sports commentators and their Colombian fans increasingly use 'El Perfume' to refer to the striker.

It should be noted that 'El Perfume' has been present in the athlete's life since 2019, when at a press conference he ironically mentioned that 'European perfume' was 'used every day, according to him, to be better. “I always try to improve as a person, dad, son and partner. Some may like it, others don't. I don't think I have to show the resume to anyone. They already know me, every day I use European perfume, so I enjoy it,” he said at the time.

From there, the theme of 'European perfume' has marked the athlete and, in fact, it became an expression that commentators have used to describe Theophilus's good football on the courts. Some time later, playing alongside the Colombian National Team, the striker again mentioned the nickname and said that “it is something unique for me that they call me that because of good football, the treatment of the ball. Going through the Colombia National Team with great players helped me grow in every way and give the ball a scent.”

The nickname has had such an impact on Gutiérrez's sporting life that, in the second half of 2021, when Deportivo Cali was going to announce that 'Teo' would come to wear the shirt of the sugar set, they did so with an image of a perfume in which only the letter 'T' was seen.

For now, his followers are still aware of the possibility that the barranquillero will retire from professional football and, as he implied in a recent publication, he 'pass the ball' to his son.
