Election campaigns are underway and the candidates are looking to win the most supporters ahead of the presidential elections that will take place on May 29. The most recent polls show that the Colombian intention to vote would lead the candidate of the Historical Pact, Gustavo Petro, and that of the Team for Colombia coalition, Federico Gutiérrez, to the second round. This has something annoying to candidate Sergio Fajardo, who has stated that he still has a chance of winning in the electoral elections.

The survey conducted by the National Consulting Center and CM& reveals that Petro has 34% of the voting intention and is followed by Gutierrez with 23%, which would lead them to a second round. In third place is Rodolfo Hernández with 12% and Sergio Fajardo with 9%. It is for this reason that the candidate of the Centro Esperanza coalition invited Colombians to vote for him and thus avoid polarization in the country.

Fajardo, who has been quite active on his social networks, referred to this situation and published a trill in which he says that they “want to count” with regard to the results that could be reflected in the presidential elections on May 29 and in which the right-wing and left-wing candidates would reach the second round. He assured that he has already shown that he knows how to govern and gave as an example his time at the Mayor's Office of Medellín.

They want to tell us the story that this is over and that we must choose between two options. We will lead a change that knows how to transform, we have shown that we know how to govern and we understand the need to build peace and fight corruption,” said Sergio Fajardo in the social media post. And in another publication he said: “I was the first civic mayor elected by popular vote and we changed the course of Medellín, we went from fear to hope. And it's time to do that all over Colombia.”

“La Remontada”, this is the name of the campaign that Sergio Fajardo is carrying out with which he invites people to vote for the center, this in order to avoid polarization in the country. In this way, he seeks to add votes that will allow him to reach the second round where he said, a few weeks ago, that he could be the only candidate to beat Gustavo Petro in the elections.

The candidate of the Historical Pact, who was recently in the capital of Antioquia, announced that he would make 5 metrocables for different communes and districts. This was answered by the former mayor of Medellín, who assured him that Colombia needs illusions, “but not with unrealizable proposals.”

“No, Petro. Colombia needs illusions, but not with unfeasible proposals such as impossible trains or State employment for everyone. Medellin has mobility and air quality challenges, but why go out and promise 5 cables that look like they're out of the hat?” , Fajardo said on his social networks, adding: “Medellín and the Metropolitan Area need to complete the public transport system for several areas. The Metro has a robust plan, far from improvisation and populist promises (...) Promising 5 cables without explaining anything, without specifying what they are, is irresponsible. Ruling is not a Nintendo game. That is why we will strongly support the consolidation of the mass transit system by coordinating with the AMVA, the mayors, the Metro and others.”
