The National Action Party (PAN) of Coahuila filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) for the crime of embezzlement against the Interior Secretary Adán Augusto López Hernández; the Commander of the National Guard (GN), Luis Rodríguez Bucio; Senator Armando Guadiana Tijerina; the national president of (Morena) Mario Delgado Carrillo, and the undersecretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico, Ricardo Mejía Berdeja.
The state leader of the blue and white party, Elisa Maldonado, the general secretary of the PAN, Gerardo Aguado and the local deputy, Mayra Valdés, filed the complaint against officials for using a National Guard plane to travel to a Morena party event in the city of Torreón, Coahuila and where openly promoted the citizen consultation in favor of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“The country's democracy is being badly hurt, there is no respect for institutions and there is total impudence on the part of the federal president (Andrés Manuel López Obrador) in the use of public resources to satisfy his own interests,” said Elisa Maldonado at the time of filing the complaint.
The PAN leader assured that “the crime of embezzlement was carried out when they decided to use a National Guard plane to transport Morenoistas to an event in which the Federal Government's Mandate Revocation Vote was openly promoted,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General, Gerardo Aguado, declared that General Rodríguez Lucio, is prohibited from interfering in political matters directly or indirectly.
“T he general regulation of the military states that the generals must abstain in the most absolute way from participating in the political affairs of the country, which clearly violated the general with his appearance in the events held in our state,” he stressed.
It should be recalled that last weekend, the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, was caught using a National Guard plane to go to the state of Coahuila, where he participated in events of the Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena) party to promote the Revocation of Mandate consultation, so he was alerted of the possible crime of diversion of public resources, in addition to carrying out acts of proselytism in the middle of the electoral ban.
The aircraft traveled to Torreón and Hermosillo, cities where the official, along with Mario Delgado Carrillo, Morena's national leader, and Luis Rodríguez Bucio, head of the National Guard, led some events to support the president in this democratic process.
After the scandal, on April 6, the Complaints and Complaints Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) imposed precautionary measures and preventive protection against several federal government officials such as the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López; the Secretary of Culture, Alejandra Fraustro; Rocío Nahle García, Secretary of Energy; and Tatiana Clouthier, Secretary of Economy, among others, since they violated the Constitution by promoting the Revocation of Mandate.
When presenting the photograph showing senior federal officials using the National Guard aircraft to attend Morena's rallies and promote the Revocation of Mandate, Councillor Ciro Murayama highlighted that some red lines were crossed with the “unprecedented participation of a military man in a political event,” he said.
“It was an unfortunate weekend for democracy because of the repetition of faults (...) We are facing a situation that I do not remember having a precedent in the democratic life of the country, which is the participation in political events of the heads of the Armed Forces, even in service uniforms,” he emphasized, since considered, it was “a kind of electoral campaign”.
