The mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina, reported that there is a reward of up to 50 million pesos for information that would identify and capture those responsible for the homicides that occurred last Friday in the city.
According to the authorities, the first case was filed in the Sameco sector and the other event occurred in the El Caney neighborhood.
It should be recalled that one of the cases mentioned above occurred in the morning, when men who were mobilizing on a motorcycle perpetrated a hit attack on two people traveling inside a private vehicle.
According to local media reports, one of the occupants of the gray Renault car died immediately, while the other person is seriously injured.
Once they committed the murder, the criminals fled the site without being able to identify who it was. The city was appalled by this fact, which is now the subject of investigation by local authorities.
In the second incident, a man was killed in the south of Cali, exactly in the El Caney neighborhood. Although there is no further information on how the events took place, there is a video hanging around social networks in which the fatal victim is seen lying on the floor and a subject taking the deceased's cell phone.
As in the previous case, the authorities initiated the respective investigations to establish the motives for the crime and locate those responsible.
On the capture of a leader of the Sinaloa cartel in Cali
Last Friday, Brian Donaciano Olguín Verdugo, alias El Pitt, a kingpin of the dangerous Sinaloa Cartel, was arrested. The drug trafficker was located in the Ciudad Jardín sector, in the south of Cali, capital of Valle del Cauca.
The criminal had a red circular from Interpol, entered Colombia in February 2022 through the José María Córdoba Airport in Rionegro (Antioquia), and could be found following the trail of a model with whom he began to establish a close relationship recently.
Regarding this fact, the mayor of Cali assured that it is very recurrent that international drug traffickers arrive in the city due to their location, very close to the area where the largest coca leaf crops are in Colombia.
“It is a reality, our city is the largest city close to the largest coca leaf crops in the world, we are just two hours away from a corridor where there are at least 80,000 hectares cultivated and it is hardly logical that when we have that circumstance in our city capos from different parts can reach transaction, marketing and supply tasks to produce that difficult situation that is cocaine,” said the local president.
