Mayor's Office clarifies the alleged fainting of a woman while they interviewed the mayor of Cali

Last Friday, April 8, the photograph of a woman lying on the floor went viral on social networks while the mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina, gave an interview. The local president was questioned by what seemed like a lack of attention on his part to a citizen having a hard time.

On social networks, several called Jorge Iván Ospina unempathetic, even claiming that he failed to take his oath as a doctor by supposedly not giving attention to a woman who passed out before his eyes.

However, in the face of the wave of criticism that Jorge Iván Ospina received, the Mayor's Office of Cali spoke out and assured that users of social networks and some media outlets took the viral image out of context.

According to a statement issued by the Mayor's Office of Cali on this fact, the woman was attended by a group of professionals from the Civil Defense and the Ministry of Risk Management, after Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina requested them to do so.

Despite the fact that the administration paid attention to the citizen, it was reported that the woman had deliberately thrown herself to the floor, that is, she did not pass out in front of the mayor, as many assured through social networks.

According to the Mayor's Office of Cali, the citizen threw herself to the floor after telling Jorge Iván Ospina her disagreements with the EPS where she receives medical care. According to information from the administration, the woman was complaining to the mayor about a charge that the entity made for a medical examination that needs to be done.

“The Caleño president's request came after the woman deliberately threw herself on the floor, after expressing to the president her disagreement with the decision of the EPS that treats her to charge him for a medical examination,” explained the mayor's office.

The Mayor's Office of Cali also assured that the woman did not present any health complications and on the contrary, after being treated by the relief agency, she walked out of the place by her own means.

“According to the report of the Civil Defense, the woman had stable vital signs and no complications that would suggest a conjuncture health situation that could have caused the fainting; minutes after being treated, she walked out by her own means to continue processing her need, according to the expressed to the members of the relief agency”, reported the district administration.

Jorge Iván Ospina pointed out those who questioned him as irresponsible

It should be recalled that last Friday after the wave of comments against him broke out, the mayor of Cali published a publication in which he rejected the way in which citizens and the media share information without contrasting sources.

“Really the “News” without context is super irresponsible things, lacking in arguments. A person simulates a faint, I know, I corroborate it and now they want to release me from disrespect and attention. No gentlemen, the procedure before a simulator was clear,” Ospina wrote on his Twitter account.
