FIFA held in Qatar the draw for the national teams that will play the World Cup from next November. Peru, if it wins the repechage against Australia or the United Arab Emirates agreed for June 13, would be placed in Group D, where France, Denmark and Tunisia are located.

For that reason, Infobae contacted Ahmed Adala, a Tunisian journalist for Radio Mosaique FM, to give details about how his nation is playing and the expectation he has at this Qatar 2022 World Cup.

“The Tunisian National Football Team is a team that is adopting a collective style of play. We may not have stars like Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Ryad Mahrez (Algeria), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco) or Sadio Mané (Senegal), but we have some good players like Youssef Msakni, Wahbi Khazri, Ellyes Skhiri. We also have some young players like Hannibal Mejbri who is playing for Manchester United,” Ahmed Adala told Infobae exclusively.

“For the draw, we will once again face some great teams, like in 2018. France, the world champion, Denmark who played the semifinal of the Euro 2020. Two different games, but we are able to make a surprise. For the third team, as fans, we prefer Peru,” added the Tunisian communicator.

He then explained the reasons why he prefers to play with Peru at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. “We have a preference for teams from North and South America. Our first victory in a world coup was in 1978, against Mexico. In 1998 we were able to beat Colombia but lost (1-0). In 2018, we beat Panama (2-1). Therefore, we hope to face Peru, not Australia for example, even the fact that we won against them in the Confederation Cup (2005), 2-0, or the United Arab Emirates, which we also beat them in the last match (Arab Cup, 2021),” he said.

“Tunisia has a good team. The dream is the same, looking to qualify for the second phase of this World Cup. It's our 6th participation, we have experience and we have players to go further. I hope so!” , Ahmed Adala, a journalist from Tunisia, told Infobae.

Meet Peru

We asked Ahmed Adala, a Tunisian journalist at Radio Mosaique FM, why I talked about Peru. “Some players, like Lapadula or Trauco who are playing with our captain Wahbi Kahzri in Saint-Etienne. But here, we're used to meeting some old players like Jefferson Farfan,” he said.

Finally, we asked him if he thinks Peru will be a favorite to access Group D of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. “I think so. Peru won against Australia in 2018 in Russia and the current team is no stronger than the team that participated in that year's World Cup,” he said.
