The announcement was made by Juan Lisandro Junco, director of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs, DIAN. He noted that in March alone, a collection of 17.7 billion pesos was achieved, which made it possible to exceed the goal set by the Ministry of Finance, which was $13.5 billion. It means a fulfillment of more than 118.6% of the goal. He added that, if they compare the month of March 2022 with that of the previous year, there was a growth of 31.4%.

This means that, by the end of the year, the country is expected to collect 196.7 billion pesos. In February, DIAN had already announced a positive increase in this concept, ensuring that at that time the most important factor in achieving these figures was the collection of VAT.

During the forum “Antioquia reactivates”, attended by the Minister of Finance and Public Credit, José Manuel Restrepo Abondano, in the company of Lisandro Junco and other personalities, the director of DIAN stressed that one of the reasons why these figures have been achieved is because of the Simple Tax Regime. He assured that it has proved to be an efficient collection mechanism, in fact, he received 1.2 billion pesos with this mechanism, and that about 18% of that amount has been collected in Antioquia alone.

According to the “Collection Report, Fight against Evasion and Smuggling”, between January and March 2022, 81.9% of the collection was represented in the “Withholding at source for income, sales tax and customs taxes”. It should be noted that the collection for management during the first quarter of 2022, achieved through actions to combat evasion and smuggling, was 5.5 billion pesos.

The sectors of textiles and their manufactures, machinery in general, electrical equipment and parts thereof, together with plastic materials and their manufactures, are the most representative in the evaluation of the fight against smuggling. Cali, Bogotá, Medellín and Buenaventura are the most representative cities for DIAN in these concepts.

Another important announcement was that for the first time in Colombia the growth trend of smuggling was changed, says El Colombiano. He added that all the achievements are due to the processes of modernization of the DIAN, due to the reactivation of the economy.

In fact, the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs has launched a free software to generate the “Electronic Payroll Payment Support Document”, which can be accessed by all persons, who are obliged and want to access this, especially micro and small businesses that have fewer than 10 workers and need to start issue this document in May of this year.

In this way, those who want to use this service will not incur any costs for its use and, in addition, the free digital signature certificate is included. This does not have a limit for the generation of payroll documents, but the best thing is that it can be accessed from any device.

Also, an alert was reported for “false communications”, where alleged officials request personal, banking and transactional data from taxpayers, in order to carry out procedures.

DIAN invites you to verify all information received through its institutional channels, for example, the website, or the Contact Center 601 307 8064, tax hotline and 601 307 8065 customs hotline.
