Buenaventura authorities search for woman who set fire to street dweller, it would not be the first time

The inhabitants of Buenaventura are shocked by the recording that has gone viral in recent hours, in which a woman is seen setting fire to a street dweller who slept on a platform. The incident, as seen in the video on the security camera, was recorded at noon on Tuesday, April 5, and is already being investigated by local authorities.

It is worth remembering that the 30-second video was released through profiles of public complaints of Buenaventura on social networks on Thursday, April 7, where the moment has been described as a “scene of horror in broad daylight”.

The act of intolerance has been shared on social networks by outraged users who demand that this woman be convicted of the crime of attempted murder. In the recording it becomes clear that the street dweller is sleeping in what appears to be the entrance of a commercial space that is closed. The woman lights an element and throws it near the man, then sprays a liquid on it and within seconds the street dweller catches fire and runs out of the place.

While vehicles passing through the street stop when they see the man running for help, the woman runs in the opposite direction and disappears from the place.

The facts are the subject of investigation by the Buenaventura Police, in the department of Valle del Cauca, since for now the whereabouts of the aggressor and, likewise, the state of health of the victim are unknown. It has been pointed out that the liquid that women spray on men could be alcohol or gasoline.

According to local media outlet TuBarco Noticias, several residents of Buenaventura who have shared the video on their social networks have pointed out that this is not the first time that acts like these have been performed in the port district against street dwellers. In addition, they reported that some people from Buenos Aires point out to the woman who appears in the video of having been involved in other cases of aggression against these persons.

Authorities have told local media that the recording, which they also learned thanks to complaints on social networks, does not make it clear exactly where this act of intolerance occurred, which is why they are working to identify all the details of the case.

Unforgivable”; “Another old woman put her hand in oil to the lady who was attending her because her food was cold they went crazy or what is happening to people and not counting the crazy people who grab for anything while they drive”; “It deserves jail not less than 20 years of punishment”, were some of the comments that some users of the networks did.

Precisely, another fact of intolerance that has been made known in recent hours happened in Cartagena, where a customer of a restaurant burned the hand of a worker when she put it in hot oil. A woman came in the company of a minor, ordered some empanadas and/or egg arepas. The order turned out to be not or not in the condition that the diner expected, which triggered a discussion that led the client to the kitchen area, where the fryer filled with hot oil is located.

The two versions used are: the first that the minor, frightened or surprised by the situation, approached where the women were and this triggered the burn, because he got into the fight and ended up burning the woman. The second is that the client took the worker's arm and put it in the hot oil.
