55 scholarships available for Colombians who want to study in the United States

This is the Fulbright program and has an open call until May 2. There are postgraduate programs, research, teaching, languages and many more.

Fulbright is a program for educational aid, sponsored by the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, among other countries and private companies. This entity is offering several programs for Colombians who want to go to study in the USA.

For example: together with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, they are offering 40 research grants. The programs cover up to 5 years of the application of the project, voucher for exams such as TOEFL, iBT and/or GRE; you can also apply for the waiver of full or partial tuition. In addition, they will be able to access academic counseling, waive the cost and processing of living, living expenses and even air tickets.

For professional programs, the Administrative Department for Social Prosperity (DPS), the Colombian Institute for Educational Credit and Technical Studies Abroad, ICETEX, in conjunction with Fulbright, offers up to five places for Colombian professionals, who at the time of applying for the scholarship have completed their accompaniment in the training program supported by the Youth in Action Program, who have successfully completed a university degree and who wish to pursue master's programs at universities in the United States, beginning in the second half of 2023.

By the Ministry of Culture, 4 scholarships are offered for cultural managers and/or Colombian artists who prove an outstanding career in their professional field. This, in order to carry out master's programs at specialized universities or institutes in the United States beginning in August 2023.

They explain that one of these quotas is intended for managers or artists belonging to an Afro-descendant community and another quota is for managers or artists belonging to an indigenous community.

With regard to the latter, there are 3 scholarships aimed exclusively at Afro-descendent communities and one for some member of the indigenous community.

Each of the programs has specific requirements, but there are general requirements among which are:

An essay on the academic objectives that it has

An essay on his personal development

A resume

Cedula

Certificates of grades with a minimum average (Depends on the program)

Diplomas of completed studies

Letters of recommendations both as professionals and academics

You will also need to take standardized English tests, such as TOEFL and IELTS.
