After the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) endorsed the Electricity Industry Act (LIE) following the 2021 reform that establishes a change in the energy dispatch order in favor of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) admitted that he was “very happy” for the determination.
During his traditional morning conference at the Palacio Nacional, López Obrador stressed that although his electricity reform initiative that will be voted on next week in the Chamber of Deputies did not reach the necessary votes, with the Supreme Court's endorsement of the LIE, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is protected to be the main power generation company.
And it was in this context that the head of the federal executive announced that this Friday he will go to the state of Nayarit, where he will visit the Marias Islands, the legendary prison now converted into a tourist recreation center.
“That historic and horrific prison is turned into a recreation center for ecotourism, it is being prepared for that purpose and it is a paradise, what used to be hell is becoming a paradise.”
As a mockery, López Obrador said that “when you are a Messiah, you can change the color of the sea and you can turn hells into paradises, all that can be done,” he said.
He noted that during his visit to the Marias Islands, the first ship built by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) will be inaugurated, which has a capacity for 170 passengers.
The ferry arrived on Tuesday in the municipality of San Blas, which will be inaugurated this Friday by the president to start providing the tourist service.
He explained that once on the island, he will spend the night on the spot to finally carry out a supervision on Saturday, April 9, which will happen only one day before the citizen consultation on Mandate Revocation.
After the arrival of the ferry to San Blas, the PAN mayor José Barajas López considered that the maritime transport service between that Nayarita municipality and the Marias Islands will imply good economic opportunities for the demarcation, as it will be known to national and foreign tourists.
The ferry service takes place days before the start of Easter, so it becomes a good option to visit during these days off.
Also, there will be two boats that will leave from Mazatlan to the Islands and there it will be announced what the package of excursions to visit the islands consists of.
On site, visitors will be able to visit the museum of the former penitentiary center where they can enjoy the activities proposed in the Islas Marías Biosphere Reserve project.
Instead you can visit the rehabilitated port of San Balleto, where there is a temple, Juarez Park, the Mandela Mural, a pier, the boardwalk, the Muros de Agua Auditorium and the museum.
Thus, visitors will be able to enjoy the archipelago that was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 and which housed criminals for 114 years.
The tourist tours between San Blas (Nayarit), Mazatlan (Sinaloa) and the Marias Islands (Nayarit), planned as part of the ecotourism project in the area, will begin on April 8.
