Three destinations to enjoy at Easter for less than 5 thousand pesos

Holy Week begins on April 10 with Palm Sunday where processions are held in several cities of Mexico and recreate the scene of Jesus entering Jerusalem; it ends one week later on Easter Sunday where it is mainly celebrated with fireworks, music and dancing. Many people often visit other places to get rid of the routine and enjoy with their loved ones.

HUATULCO

One of the best places to visit this Holy Week is Huatulco, Oaxaca, with a sub-humid climate and an annual average temperature of 28°C, is one of the paradises in the south of the country's favorite visitors. It has several attractions such as the National Park where you can go boat rides, boat trips, hiking, snorkeling and diving. The lodging starts at 2 thousand pesos per night.

Nearby is the Bocana del Rio Copalita Archaeological Zone, which dates back to the Middle Preclassic period. Admission costs 30 pesos with student credential and 60 pesos for the general public. You can also visit the Museum of Oaxacan Handicrafts where the work of artisans such as waist looms, tapestries dyed with different materials such as the cochineal farm, rosaries, necklaces, alebrijes and typical costumes are exhibited.

TLAYACAPAN

Tlayacapan, Morelos is one of the few villages that retains a large part of its original urban layout, has a temperate sub-humid climate and averages 19° C. It is a place that is surrounded by several hills such as the Chichinautzin Biological Corridor. It is famous for its pottery tradition and there are still families dedicated to the art of modeling clay with their hands to create beautiful pieces.

During Holy Week, the Via Crucis is performed and celebrated with dances by the famous Chinelos that emerged after the Colony, they tour the village accompanied by band music and claps by people. Finally, on Easter Sunday, a mass is held in the chapel of Santa Ana.

In the Magic Town there are 18 chapels, ecotourism activities within the Chichinautzin Biological Corridor, the Former Convent of San Juan Bautista, water parks, among others. The typical dish is the ash tamale, a name given to it because of the color it takes when adding beans and is usually accompanied by green or red mole. TAXCO

Taxco de Alarcón, Guerrero is one of the best places to celebrate Holy Week. In addition to being a Magical Town with a great history, during this special week you can see impressive processions in the cobbled streets. It is said that it has preserved the tradition of Holy Week since the time of the colonial period, so it is considered one of the most moving and impressive in all of Mexico.

On Good Friday, the Procession of the Three Falls is held, composed of Roman soldiers, crusaders, groups of children dressed as angels, among others; after noon the crucifixion is carried out, the faithful walk barefoot while carrying wooden crosses and at approximately 16:00 hours the body is descended and returned to the Former Convent of San Bernardino to present the crucified Christ.

One of the main attractions is the 20-meter-high monumental statue of Christ, located on Atachi Hill, which is also a viewpoint where you can see the entire city. Lodging starts at 700 pesos per night for two adults.
